up_the_ironsMy NTT rep has contacted me with a "checkup" email. Maybe this is a good time to complain about the issues we had some months ago with latency / peering (who was it with? comcast?) that their NOC didn't want to fix... [18:26]
m0undscomcast and vz
and centurylink
[18:32]
....... (idle for 34mn)
up_the_ironsAnyone have any current mtr's, smokeping, etc... evidence I can throw at them? [19:07]
brycec@smokeping [19:11]
BryceBothttps://smokeping.cobryce.com/ [19:11]
brycec:P
(don't have mtr's for those destinations though
)

mnathaniI have hit fastmails 4000 inbound email per day per account limit using rss2email [19:13]
m0undsyea, i just have graphs

[19:14]

forgottenseems from arp to LAX stuff is nasty high. everywhere else it's ok [19:15]
m0undshttp://i.imgur.com/uqmZK9v.png [19:16]
mnathaniI want Google Reader to come back [19:16]
forgottenagreed. miss google reader. [19:16]
brycecI like r2e + gmail :D
forgotten: what ARP-LAX stuff are you talking about?
[19:16]
mnathaniARP is in LAX, is it not? [19:17]
brycecDepending on the definition of LAX, yes :P
@iata LAX
[19:17]
BryceBotLAX: Los Angeles International Airport located in Los Angeles, California, United States [19:17]
brycecARP is not in the airport :P [19:17]
mnathanithats the one [19:17]
forgottenbrycec: looking at your graphs everything LAX is like almost a full second. 800ms, 758ms. etc etc
where everything else is 50ms, or whatever.
[19:17]
brycecforgotten: those are us not ms [19:18]
forgottenoh? [19:18]
mnathanilol [19:18]
brycecmicroseconds vs milliseconds [19:18]
mnathanilatency too low for you forgotten: [19:18]
brycecforgotten: 1ms is 1000us, so 694.8us is less than 1ms [19:19]
forgottenwell then, fuck me. lol [19:20]
brycecI... I don't swing that way, forgotten [19:20]
forgottenjust this once bro just no kissing [19:20]
brycecNo way man, you're going to end up staring me in the eye and making this awkwarsd [19:21]
m0undsthe bro part makes it less creepy [19:21]
brycecfwiw, ARP-LAX.HE doesn't hit transit, it's a direct cross-connect
c/o coresite/any2ix
just like BAM
[19:22]
m0undshttp://i.imgur.com/PReALxk.png there's a graph w/the ntt stuff in full swing every night
up_the_irons: ^ dunno if that's useful at all
[19:23]
brycecm0unds: ARP -> where? [19:23]
m0undscomcast
actually, comcast -> arp in that case
i don't bother with the inverse because it looks almost exactly the same
[19:23]
brycechm so I should see it in my smokeping too [19:24]
m0undsdepends on the route
this only shows up with arp > sjc > denver > albuquerque
[19:24]
brycecAnd yet Comcast->arpnetworks.com is clean [19:25]
m0undssince it changes a few times a week [19:25]
brycec*my
heh
[19:25]
m0undssometimes it's arp > lax.comcast > abq, which is less than 30ms round trip
right now, it's hitting gtt instead of ntt and it's been a smooth 40ms for a week or more
[19:25]
brycecMine: cc.sea -> cc.lax -> gtt -> mzima -> arp [19:26]
m0undsoh, that's right, it was the return path that hit ntt, not outbound
arp -> comcast was ntt, comcast -> arp was gtt/nlayer and mzima
it's been a while since i've looked
[19:28]
brycecSo it is [19:30]
