gluffisanyone else than me that has ipv6 routing issues?
trying to get to 2a01:298:f001:a106::1337, but it ends up in occaid.net router in , what I assume , stockholm
[02:25]
plettgluffis: I can reach that IP from here in the UK, but not from my VPS at ARP
Where it works for me, traffic goes via he.net . ARP has that route via occaid which appears to not work
[02:28]
gluffisplett: yes, that is kinda my problem ;)
if i try the other way around i get a lot of hops in HE's network
feel assymetric ;)

Jarethum, I need a ipv6 working mail addy ;/ [10:35]
jlgaddiseh?
an ipv6 mx host?
[10:36]
Jarethyah [10:40]
jlgaddisset one up :P
i'm assuming you have a vps on arp :P
[10:41]
Jarethyes, sure
but I fight with postfix ;p
[10:42]
plettThen install something sensible like exim instead ;) [10:45]
jlgaddisjlgaddis looks at plett
i hope that was a joke =)
[10:45]
plettPersonally I like exim, but no, it wasn't meant to be taken as a suggestion or recommendation [10:47]
arenlorHey, I use sendmail.
It was rather simple to setup for ipv6
[10:47]
plettThere wasn't any config for exim - it listened on v6 by default [10:48]
arenlorplett: How much other config was needed? [10:49]
plettarenlor: To do what? My config is fairly complicated [10:50]
arenlorplett: To get it running [10:52]
plettIf you just want to deliver mail to/from system users, nothing
This is on Debian Linux, btw. I don't know what the FreeBSD port is like
[10:52]
arenlorI use Debian [10:53]
plettThen you already have exim installed, unless you've made efforts to remove it [10:54]
arenlorI'll definitely have to see if I can use it, thanks. [10:55]
plettarenlor: You would want to start with "dpkg-reconfigure exim4-config", and telling it that it's connected to the internet and should listen on external interfaces [10:57]

up_the_ironsgluffis: tried to make that route go over HE, but not having luck
to OpenBSD admins, suggestions welcome:
sudo route add -inet6 -net 2a01:298:: -prefixlen 32 2001:504:13::1a
route: writing to routing socket: File exists
add net 2a01:298::: gateway 2001:504:13::1a: File exists
[13:45]
leevi always just do -net 2a01:298::/32
openbgpd?
[13:47]
up_the_ironsleev: i would like to do that, but that never works for me, i get : route: 2a01:298::/32: bad value
leev: yeah, openbgpd
i should just put it in bgpd.conf i suppose
[13:47]
leevweird. i've only played with freebsd, not openbsd [13:48]
up_the_ironsok, this worked:
s3.lax:~> sudo route delete -inet6 -net 2a01:298:: -prefixlen 32
delete net 2a01:298::
s3.lax:~> sudo route add -inet6 -net 2a01:298:: -prefixlen 32 2001:504:13::1a
add net 2a01:298::: gateway 2001:504:13::1a
s3.lax:~>
lol, still goes over occaid
bah
[13:48]
leevhaha [13:49]
up_the_ironsoh, i see why
a more specific is coming through
2a01:298:f001::/48
[13:51]
leevhmm
seems fine going through occaid
10 2a01:298:f001:a106::1337 102.337 ms 99.874 ms 102.671 ms
[13:52]
up_the_ironsit dies on ibr01-g1-1.stkh02.occaid.net
for me
[13:52]
leevtry now [13:52]
up_the_ironsstandby
works!
thanks for the fix
gluffis: routing fixed
[13:52]
leevhmmm. that is weird what happened. i'll take a look [13:55]

skoczendespite it being a friday evening in the americas, I've got a VPS server boot problem. Anyone around for some advice? [18:29]
milkidescribe the problem in more detail? [18:38]
skoczensure
upgrade with do-release-upgrade
on boot, dropped to a grub prompt
manually setting the kernel, etc doesn't work because /dev/sdX doesn't exist
booting off the cd, I can't reinstall grub
[18:38]
meingtslaThink it's /dev/vda, no? [18:39]
skoczenit does, however, correctly mount the disk as vdX
I don't see it during normal boot
related problem - any way to get networking working on the boot cd?
(I don't see /dev/vda in normal boot, I mean)
in attempting to fix grub, I've managed to make things worse, and am now getting the grub_xputs error. I believe reinstalling it off the rescue cd would fix it, but I can't access the internet to do it.
