ncullenHello! Anybody there? [08:10]
RandalSchwartzno. we're over here. [08:15]
ncullenha!
I was just wondering about IPv4 allocations.
I just pre-ordered two servers, but nowhere could I find what the policy on IPv4 addresses is.
Can I get at least 4 of them?
[08:17]
jpalmerncullen: for something like that, you can email support. but AFAIK, yes, they'll allocate subnets. [08:19]
RandalSchwartzand they'll typically want them all in the same subnet
so you'll probably end up with a /29 if you need at least 4
[08:20]
ncullenoh great [08:20]
RandalSchwartzthat's what they did for my client, anyway
so we have three servers in the /29, and a few spare addrs
I have a /28 for my other server, but I'm paying for it
[08:20]
ncullenvery nice. looks like it's all very flexible then :) [08:23]
RandalSchwartzit's actually simpler to have only one delegation in terms of support cost
so it's not just to be nice... it reduces costs.
[08:25]
ncullenI might ask for a /28 if it's not too expensive.
if you don't mind, may I ask how long you've been hosting with them?
[08:26]
RandalSchwartzcoming up on 11 months
very happy so far.
[08:28]
ncullenare you actualy Randal Schwartz? :-) [08:29]
RandalSchwartzI don't know how to prove that, but yes.
Perl, FLOSS Weekly, Geekcruises
Smalltalk
etc etc
[08:29]
ncullenNice to meet you then. And congrats on all of this! [08:31]
RandalSchwartzthanks [08:33]
