people on a few other networks get a SERVFAIL when they try to lookup rDNS. but t works fine from every network I try.

jpalmerso, you aren't getting a servfail. several other people are.. unless they use +trace, which sounds to me like broken delegation (but I don't know how to verify it) [11:44]

jpalmerwallshot: in the meantime, you can start preparing the next tasks. setup ipv6 on your NS's, make sure the NS's have appropriate AAAA records in the zonefile.. then setup the glue records with your registrar.
that should keep you busy for 30 minutes :P

toddfits even more trivial if you use the ssh secured access to the serial console, vnc transmits all your passwords in the clear .. unless you tunnel vnc over ssh too ;-)
1 partition 'noexec,nosuid' unix would be pretty brutal ..

shansaI see that my VPS has 2 cdrom drives. The first one has the FreeBSD iso, the second one is empty. Is it possible to have a different iso in the second drive, leaving the first one untouched? And then can you chose to boot from one or the other? [16:22]

toddfm4rzito: there have been research papers on VM systems (qemu, xen, vmware, etc) and all have flaws, more secure is rather a fuzzy logic style statement
m4rzito: it is certainly fast, it is certainly reliable, and it is certainly totally open source, and it is certainly capable of running almost anything unmodified as a guest .. vs EC2 which requires xen domU kernels
m4rzito: I'm not aware of any arpnetworks backup mechanism, you pay for the vps and backup your own stuff
