ziyourenxianghas anyone done the make buildworld, etc. dance on 7.2-release to go to 7.3?
i just did it on a test machine at home and got / filesystem full while doing "make installkernel"
don't want to have the same happen to my "production" machine here at arpnetworks
[09:31]
..... (idle for 23mn)
jlgaddisdon't let the disk fill up? [09:54]
ziyourenxiangroot filesystem wasn't big enough for the new kernel installation [09:57]
jlgaddiswhat's your partitions look like on your vps?
mine, by default, just had one big / partition
[10:01]
ziyourenxiangi just took default when i installed... moment... [10:02]
jlgaddis500mb / partition at home, and haven't had any issues [10:02]
ziyourenxiang500mb / on the VPS... 320mb on the one at home
so 500mb should be good to go then :-)
anyways, the one at home is a vbox instance... so i'll blow it away, recreate with bigger / and try again

toddfanybody ever seen udp scanning to port 52983 ?
it is totally bizarre random ips will hit me about once every 5 seconds or so, and its by far the most common udp port hit
[13:24]
like 99% of the hits [13:36]

toddfI noticed because I happened to be interactive via ssh .. and I only have v6 ssh access enabled ;-) [13:47]
up_the_ironstoddf: did the session stay alive? [13:47]
toddfyes
only because I didn't have agressive keepalive going though
if it had been my main colo box .. not a chance ;-)
[13:48]
Sue-samaup_the_irons, pm? [13:48]
up_the_ironsSue-sama: you don't need to ask permission to pm. If I don't reply, then I'm probably busy with something else, in which case support@arpnetworks.com is your best bet
toddf: ah ok
to quote another channel i'm in, "Don't ask to ask, just ask"
[13:49]
finkfink hopes to get his new vps this evening
my fingers are like itching

RandalSchwartzsee - I knew it wouldn't be long
He had to run down to Best Buy. :)
my ping time from oversee.net to my ARP box was 4 ms.
I'm spoiled now :)
it's 55ms back here in oregon
[14:33]
up_the_ironshah, looks like a peer with their provider, so it goes direct [14:35]
RandalSchwartzyeah
it was 4 hops
counting two internal
oversee buys some big pipes
I've never seen speedtest.net peg out at 80 mbps :)
[14:36]
up_the_ironsi'm actually getting even lower latency: [14:36]
RandalSchwartzboth up and down [14:36]
up_the_irons64 bytes from www.oversee.net (204.13.160.53): icmp_seq=7 ttl=251 time=0.792 ms [14:36]
RandalSchwartzyeah, that's the external box [14:36]
up_the_ironshaha [14:36]
RandalSchwartzI was talking about the boxes on the 44th floor [14:37]
up_the_ironsah ok [14:37]
RandalSchwartzwww.oversee.net is in one wilshire [14:37]
up_the_ironsah
so it's a straight shot
[14:37]
RandalSchwartzlet's see if I can find a gateway from my login logs
external IF is 204.13.163.16
that's the 44th floor
oops 204.13.163.36
but still, not pingable
they probaby stop that
[14:37]
up_the_ironsyeah not pingable [14:40]
RandalSchwartztraceroute there shows pretty fast though
3 hops

RandalSchwartzthe group is fond of walking to a place nearby, grabbing a bunch of takeout, then eating upstairs
seems to be the M.O.
