up_the_ironsNew FreeBSD and OpenBSD specials announced: http://arpnetworks.com/vps [17:45]
mike-burnsAwesome. [17:50]
***Nat__UB has joined #arpnetworks [17:51]
Nat__UBEvening...how is your console access handled? [17:52]
up_the_ironsNat__UB: VNC [17:53]
Nat__UBcool... [17:54]
up_the_ironsNat__UB: did you just see the new specials via Twitter? [17:55]
Nat__UBHAHAH....yea [17:55]
up_the_ironswondering why i have a new visitor after like 2 minutes of announcing that.. LOL [17:55]
Nat__UBDoes the price change based on need or just the setup [17:55]
up_the_ironsi think i'll just add that to the bullet poins, given i've been asked that several times before [17:56]
Nat__UB:) [17:56]
up_the_ironsNat__UB: price changes if you want more disk space, RAM, bandwidth, etc...
IPv4 IPs
IPv6 is free
[17:56]
Nat__UBDoes it decrease for 512 RAM, how much for v4 IP's? [17:57]
up_the_ironsNat__UB: 50 cents per IP per month; requires justification (RFC2050) [17:58]
Nat__UBnice...I won't monopolize the time...since u'r suddenly popular :) [17:59]
up_the_ironsyeah, i wrote up some pricing last night, here's the $15 plan (to be announced):
<td>512 MB</td>
<td>10 GB</td>
<td>100 GB</td>
<td>$15</td>
<td>Order</td>
straight from the source ;)
so 512MB RAM, 10GB disk, 100GB bandwidth
Nat__UB: :)
[17:59]
Nat__UByea...got it...using Xen? [18:00]
up_the_ironsNat__UB: no, KVM/QEMU [18:00]
Nat__UBahh...sweet [18:00]
up_the_ironsthat's how I can do OpenBSD also
cuz there's no good OpenBSD / Xen solution
too bad OpenBSD 4.5 doesn't work quite yet.. only 4.4
4.4 works perfectly, 4.5 kernel panics upon boot
[18:00]
Nat__UBInteresting...used f'bsd on Xen and dedicated...KVM supposed to be cleaner? [18:01]
up_the_ironsoh yeah, it's way more "natural"
I can boot an install ISO of any supported OS and be installing the OS like it was a real physical box
with Xen I could never do that (yet, with their new HVM stuff, it might be possible now, just never tried)
and the fact that the KVM code was accepted into the Linux kernel after only like 2 months of development I think tells you something of the code quality
Xen was never accepted
[18:02]
Nat__UBHAHAHA....right
Paypal?
[18:04]
up_the_ironsi try to avoid PayPal; Visa/MC/Amex/Discover accepted [18:05]
Nat__UBok...Paypal can be a pain...just handy [18:05]
up_the_ironsyeah [18:07]
