Hi all. I was a long time customer of ARP before but migrated away a few years ago (I know, I know). Welp, I'm sick and tired of the "big" providers because they suck and miss ARP! I plan to migrate everything back by the new year. Question - What is the difference between a VPS and cloud dedicated server? Just resource allocation? pjs: Internally, the VPS and cloud dedicated servers (Thunder) are about the same, but the Thunder's give far more resources, and we also provision them on a separate cluster, where only a few servers exist per physical box, so there's a lot less contention for the CPU Off topic... I was absent here for a while and missed some discussions. I logged at irclogger and caught up... for the record, to those wondering about their first ever invoice appearing in Jan 2012, it was actually then when we implemented our new billing system. There certainly are customers older than that (way back to 2008), but we didn't have recorded invoices back then *I looked That explains it! pjs: interesting that you mention coming back just now, b/c I'm provisioning a new VPS at this very moment, and turns out the order was from a customer who left in 2014. It still tickles me that people can be gone for so long and still eventually come back. up_the_irons: trying to think when I left. Probably 2016-17ish. But was a customer for a long time. Maybe 2011-2012ish when I first joined up_the_irons: re: vps/dedi's got it. In my experience the VPS's are not over sold either but I think I'll go with a mix of the 2 pjs: roger that :)
