Who | What | When | |
---|---|---|---|
mercutio | i mostly use my tablet for monitoring my sleep
i get to know how much i snore every night | [01:16] | |
up_the_irons | heh
got audio working fully now (buttons) I just had to reboot it seems or maybe restarting X would have just made Xfce all aware of pulseaudio | [01:29] | |
mercutio | what are your thoughts on arch linux? | [01:35] | |
up_the_irons | some really simple things are not worth the time to set up; I think it should just be a default
but overall, I'm liking it; I mean, I now have a really minimal setup no bloat cuz I had to install absolutely fucking everything by hand | [01:36] | |
mercutio | haha | [01:37] | |
up_the_irons | I know I only have what I need | [01:37] | |
mercutio | it installs packages oddly quick too :) | [01:37] | |
up_the_irons | yeah it's pretty fast | [01:37] | |
mercutio | how are you booting?
systemd-boot? | [01:38] | |
up_the_irons | i'm not sure
whatever was the default it's definitely systemd would you happen to know where the preferences for the notification windows are on Xfce ? lol I get Chrome and WhatsApp notifications on the upper right... I want lower right and bigger fonts
I have the 5.1.4 kernel now (although I'm still booted into the LTS one) | [01:43] | |
mercutio | no idea
i use notion :) i thought you were using xmonad? doesn't that have a notification system? the fix is reverting the commit that they mention | [01:58] | |
up_the_irons | yeah I use xmonad
there are no notifications | [02:00] | |
mercutio | well i suspect it is
oh? | [02:00] | |
up_the_irons | no it's just a window manager | [02:00] | |
mercutio | https://github.com/xaverdh/xmonad-xnotify
maybe nothing built in but it seems there are ways to.. | [02:00] | |
up_the_irons | well, i don't really need another notification system
the one with Xfce is fine, i just want to customize it | [02:01] | |
mercutio | ah ok | [02:01] | |
up_the_irons | i'll figure it out | [02:01] | |
mercutio | xfce4-notifyd seems like notifyd-osd
xfce4-notifyd-config lets you move it around omg zomg-ponies is disturbing (for theme) | [02:06] | |

up_the_irons | zomg-ponies?
lol I don't even want to google that | [18:20] | |
mercutio | it's theme for xfce4-notify
under appearance -> theme | [18:21] | |
up_the_irons | omfg
you're right hahahahahaa | [18:22] | |
mercutio | ugly isnt' it | [18:22] | |
up_the_irons | terrible | [18:22] | |
mercutio | i wonder if there are other ones around somewhere | [18:23] | |
up_the_irons | thanks for xfce4-notifyd-config, it totally did the trick
and now that I look harder under "Settings" in the Xfce4 menu, I see it there too... | [18:23] | |
mercutio | you can do "pacman -Ql xfce4-notifyd" to see what's in the package too
ah i don't have xfce4 full, i was wondering what notification daemons notion had, and it listed the xfce one like you mentioned :) seems you can use notify-send to send stuff to the xfce one too though | [18:24] | |
.... (idle for 16mn) | |||
up_the_irons | yeah I've been using '-Ql' a lot
so which notifications daemon does notion use? | [18:42] | |
.... (idle for 19mn) | |||
mercutio | it doesn't have it's own, it can use other ones...
well it does make window title red when it generates an alert in a terminal and show that on another desktop but not the notifications like notify-osd/xfce-notifyd there's also notification-daemon not sure what that one is | [19:01] | |
.................... (idle for 1h36mn) | |||
up_the_irons | ah OK | [20:39] |
