I've had periodic ipv6 drops since the move

mercutiomkb: what kind of drop? [15:26]

mkbI think I was lying about it being ipv6...
every five minutes the monitoring connects via tcp and then immediately disconnects if it was successful
and about once every other day it complains it couldn't connect but the next attempt is always successful

mercutiohmm that could be anything.. ): [17:41]
brycecWholly anecdotal (save for IRC logs) but I've been getting dropped off Freenode more frequently since the move, or maybe it's since the new transit provider. It had been that I'd go weeks and weeks without a hiccup, but 4 times in the past 2 weeks is odd. Alas, like I said, I don't have solid evidence (mtr, latency, etc) so just take this for what it's worth. [17:46]
mercutiohmm you have smokeping running still? [17:47]
brycecNope
(Like I said, no solid evidence :p)
[17:48]
I will leave an mtr running, at least then I'll see if there's been any route changes or packet loss, albeit without timestamps. I'm not [currently] complaining, everything reconects on its own, and I haven't personally noticed it (been impacted by it directly). Just trying to provide a touch more context, a "me too" voice. [17:53]
mkbis the old cage completely gone? [18:06]
mercutioyes old cage is gone [18:06]
mkbI remember at some point probably mercutio described some complex routing between the cages [18:06]
mercutioi checked my monitoring, and there was an incident just over 24 hours ago, and a week ago
it wasn't complex between the cages. it was bridging
[18:06]
mkbperhaps i have a low bar for complex ;) [18:07]
mercutiobridging is simple... but can cause issues :) [18:07]
mkbmore complicated than only having one cage anyway [18:07]
mercutiobut that's only because it's simple. . like if there's a loop
not really
it's like having two switches
[18:07]
...... (idle for 29mn)
brycec(And a patch cable between the two. And no fancy configuration - think of them as just dumb unmanaged switches)

Okay so it was only 3 times in the past 2 weeks, misremembered.
[18:36]
mercutiono idea what happened 30 march probably not arp [18:41]
brycecYeah, that's long enough ago that I'm sure it's unrelated to any of the move. [18:41]
mercutioyour 3 may one looks like wrong time to me? [18:41]
brycec15:07:15 ℹ | kornbluth.freenode.net: *** Looking up your hostname... [18:42]
mercutioi got it was 12:31... which would put it at 5:31 pm for you [18:42]
brycecbrycec shrugs [18:43]
mercutio09:39:19 <-- ? brycec (brycec@unaffiliated/cobryce) has quit (*.net *.split)
i wonder if you got affected by freenode issues just prior
i think you wer elooking at logs of brycebot though?
[18:44]
brycecCould be Freenode rebooting a server or whatever. I don't have disconnection reasons (eg: "timed-out") since weechat is insulated by way of an IRC bouncer (same host), I just get the messages from Freenode as it reconnects.
I don't have logs for BryceBot going back more than an hour, so I couldn't be :P
[18:45]
mercutioodd byrcebot connected one minute exactly after brycec
are they on the same host?
[18:46]
brycecYes, and connected via the same bouncer (but different accounts) so their reconnections will be queued serially. [18:46]
mercutioah
yeah i think it was coincidental for that
i've noticed that freenode disconnections tend to happen in waves if it's freenode
those waves may be school holidays
