up_the_irons: mhoran: when you said only 1 server is inaccessible, was that server on the same subnet as a "good" one?
mhoran: Oddly enough, yeah. I could get to matthoran.com but not blog.matthoran.com
But apparently even matthoran.com was inaccessible, according to the alerts. But I loaded it on my phone. Blog didn't load.
mercutio: traffic coming in the backup router seemed to stop working and was being hashed across both links it seems
up_the_irons: I find it very weird that one IP worked and one didn't mhoran
mercutio: it was a bit confusing, as some stuff worked some didn't, some half worked
and we were only doing stuff not directly related to that
mhoran: Yeah me too!
mercutio: also the backup router could reach the IPs having issues fine.
mnathani: Is learning how to install and run mailman a worthwhile effort in this day and age?
mercutio: you could say anything is worthwhile
acf_: related, does anyone know of a good mail daemon for 2019?
I feel like they're all straight out of the '90s
mhoran: I still use postfix (+dovecot).
acf_: yeah same
although I really just use gmail these days
postfix is definitely in the "from the '90s" category though (imo)
also have to use spamassassin so my inbox doesn't explode
it works... ok
mhoran: It's definitely more modern than sendmail, and is getting new features all the time
I've never had an issue
I use MailRoute in front of my server for spam filtering. They do a good job. But I've heard good things about rspamd iirc
acf_: More modern than sendmailâ„¢
I agree it's not bad, but it's quickly falling behind all of the hosted solutions
mhoran: Eh. I'm happy using mutt. And I don't much trust Google
mercutio: i still use postfix too
i use amavisd-new still
i haven't touched any postfix features in forever
i mean i'm not using anything new
i think i chagned somethign with amavis's spamassassin config a few years back
main.cf from apr last year not sure what changed though
i still use mutt too, and locally on my mail server
it does give faster mail
