ill buy a six pack if someone provisions the vps order i just submitted :P :D in the next 10min :P lol forgotten forgotten: One of the "ready-made" VPS doesn't/didn't suit you? Here's a salute to ARP for being up today. Amazon S3 is apparently having a major outage, and their status dashboard hasn't updated to reflect that because their status dashboard is affected by the outage. ah, apparently I am late in saying this. The status page is working again; they're just having an outage. sjackso: No, that really was a thing - they couldn't serve the red icons on the dashboard for a while because the image files were hosted on the broken bit of S3 https://twitter.com/awscloud/status/836656664635846656 TWITTER: The dashboard not changing color is related to S3 issue. See the banner at the top of the dashboard for updates. Maybe they should host their status board on google cloud or something? Ahh Indeed. The irony is amazing :) Perhaps. At the same time, their services aren't _supposed_ to break to this degree. That's why regions have availability zones, replicas etc. Pretty mind-boggling that it broke at all, especially to this degree. yes, the whole 11-nines of availability thing is looking tattered today 11 nines I cannot even begin to fathom that for such a major outage there weren't that many posts on outages@ i didn't actually read the content, i just saw the subjects go past i would be easy to brag that we have great uptime, in the face of big player outages, but at the end of the day, if we were the biggest host in the world, we might also have the same problems. Sometimes it's nice to be small. s/i would/it would/ it would be easy to brag that we have great uptime, in the face of big player outages, but at the end of the day, if we were the biggest host in the world, we might also have the same problems. It feels a bit... ironic, I guess. But it's a real nice experience: perks of having a physical bookstore - browsing, skimming, etc - with Amazon pricing.) there used to be a bookstore here, i think it was barnes and noble and they had couches etc it was like 3 storeys but then they closed up i preferred it in a way the only problem was the prices were really high compared to amazon and i think that it went into that problem area of people would sometimes browse there, then buy from amazon the same thing is happening with shoe places here. it's mitigated slightly from cheaper parallel imports from asia to get costs down. but people want convenience and cheap prices at the same time. i kind of like the idea of decoupling, like you go to a shoe shop and you pay money to check out shoes, and to have someone help you, then you can buy online or there. where they can offer more competitve prices becuase you've already paid for checking out the shoes. Hello, with C language : "socket(PF_INET, SOCK_RAW, IPPROTO_TCP) ;... tcph->syn=1; " then "sendto". This packet goes to port "80" of some website. That server receives my packet , then it sends back SYN/ACK packet, good, that site is up. But after I receive the SYN/ACK packet from that remote server something else happens. "Me", or my Kernel I suppose send out an "R" packet, my program didn't send it. Now this RST third packet is not needed for me. Is it neccessary to have Kernel send RST on its own (being TCP) link, or I can turn it off with "setsockopt"? mike-burns: yeah exactly mercutio: we still have a lot of barnes & noble's here. it's like how you describe. I like it b/c i can sit down and chill. work. read. whatever. up_the_irons: it was central city here, premium real estate so maybe it cost a lot to maintain.. i'm sure it did also shipping costs to get books here etc it was better before i lived here as it was a convenient place to kill time yeah so if i go to LA i can kill time there haha all hail to arpnetworks! I am one of the happy customers! Hail up_the_irons! is openbsd 6.1 coming out tommorow? hail to mercutio too! He is @ here! Must be VVIP here.
