mercutiomike-burns: is it that it doesn't pause for long enough at F12 to press? or does it just seem to net register [13:55]
mike-burnsIt just doesn't seem to register.
It pauses, and then it goes to to the FreeBSD boot prompt ("F1 FreeBSD" or whatever), and then it understands what I'm typing.
Actually, I haven't tried pressing F1 there ...
[13:55]
BryceBotThat's what she said!! [13:56]
mercutiomaybe f12 is bound to something?
could try shift-f12
[13:56]
mike-burnsConfirmed: F1 works there.
Not sure how to tell whether F12 is bound to something.
[13:56]
mercutioi dunno, my window manager shows a menu :) [13:57]
mike-burnsHeh, I wrote this window manager myself ... [13:57]
mercutiowow [13:57]
mike-burnsI tried Shift-F12, Ctrl-F12, Fn-F12, Alt-F12 -- nothing. [13:58]
mercutioi'm using notion. i've been using ion/notion for around 15 years...
that host is legacy
[13:58]
mike-burnsYup. [13:59]
mercutioit maybe best to put in request to change hosts [13:59]
mike-burnsTrying a different VNC client first ... [14:05]
mercutioahh
i use tigervnc
[14:07]
mike-burnsI got it! [14:07]
BryceBotThat's what she said!! [14:07]
mercutiothere are quite a few clients
so something was binding f12?
maybe the client? :)
[14:07]
mike-burnsIt might be.
I used an Android VNC client.
So now I have a tiny tiny screen and the worst of all keyboards.
[14:08]
mercutiobut proof that it's your desktop having issues
you can use usb otg adapters on most phones btw
and plug a normal keyboard in
[14:08]
fIorz_just use the "serial" console? [14:12]
