up_the_irons: nathani: sure has been quiet lately
fIorz_: up_the_irons: btw, changing ISOs while the VM is running seems to have no effect, not even on the next "power cycle" ... I accidentally installed the wrong debian version as a result ;-)
up_the_irons: fIorz_: what version did you want? that'll be a bug if it's not working on our DE node
it looks like "debian-7.8.0-amd64-netinst.iso" is mounted currently
fIorz_: yeah, I am now reinstalling
when shut down, it works just fine
up_the_irons: hmm it shouldn't be that way
but OK, if you got what you need now, that's good
fIorz_: possibly some interaction with CD drive locking or something?
up_the_irons: not sure, it works fine with other hosts (but a hard reboot is required)
fIorz_: I might have switched while in the installer, which sooner or later (at least when mounting the CD) would lock the drive on real hardware
but the next power off/boot apparently got me back to the same installer, and I didn't realize that the same background image might indicate something hadn't quite worked ;-)
but yeah, no urgent problem for me, but a note could have saved me some time (or a fix, if it's a bug ...)
up_the_irons: it's a bug, so i'm going to look into it
mnathani: now the real question is if fIorz_ would have said anything had I not lost the IRC idle game :-)
fIorz_: *g*
up_the_irons: fIorz_: I found the source of the bug and implemented a fix; it works on some of my test VMs. Let me know if you have any further problems.
fIorz_: up_the_irons: sure, so far everything seems to be working fine, reverse delegation is also functional now ...
mnathani: were there any beta VMs going around?
or did I miss out

JimFenton: Anyone that can help with a (probably simple) Debian upgrade question?
***: dj_goku has joined #arpnetworks
brycec: I can try...

JimFenton: brycec: I think I answered my own question after a fashion. Had never done a Debian upgrade before and it was quite different from what I expected. Things are mostly working now, but having problems getting postgresql to start -- there's an init file missing it seems.
Anyhow, thanks for the offer.
