they're like the worst thing to attack ever though.  way over  provisioned, with heaps of anycast etc, and they don't actually do much.,  they just list who has .com etc name servers.
I guess some crackers think they take down the internets by taking down the root
i do find it kind of amusing how over provisioned the root name servers are.
taking down ns1-4.google.com would have a lot of end users affected for instance
