mhoranup_the_irons: since sometime yesterday evening my VPS latency shot through the roof (both IPv4 and IPv6.) Interactively using SSH is extremely frustrating, pings are over 200, sometimes almost 300 on IPv4. Actually looks like IPv6 might be better so I'll switch over.
Yup, IPv6 is much better. It used to be the other way!
Looks like Level3 nonsense according to traceroute.
[04:47]
up_the_ironsmnathani: I actually turn off a BGP session with Level 3 yesterday
(we have 2)
[04:49]
mhoranAha. [04:49]
up_the_ironscan you send me mtr's in both directions
(support@arpnetworks.com, so we call can see)
[04:50]
mhoranSure thing. [04:50]
Sent, thanks. [04:57]

mnathaniis level 3 no longer a transit for ARP's outbound traffic? [12:04]
............. (idle for 1h3mn)
brycecGood question... I tracerouted to level3.com and exited ARP over NTT, lol [13:07]
.... (idle for 15mn)
mnathanilooks like prefixes are still announced to level3, so incoming traffic still comes in through them [13:22]
........ (idle for 39mn)
up_the_ironsWe are unable to offer Level 3 any longer on outbound b/c they will not support terminating VLANs on our 2 core routers without charging us twice for the same traffic (it's one physical circuit). Totally. Fucking. Retarded.
They are still a default route, but of course, all more specific NTT routes will take priority

mnathani: would it happen to be causing a problem? [17:56]
......... (idle for 44mn)
mnathanino problem, the bgp routing table looks really different now :-)
I had a snapshot of it when Level3 was still up and was just comparing
[18:40]
up_the_ironsah yeah
you won't see Level 3 routes, obviously
[18:45]
mercutiontt actually seem to have pretty good routes in general [18:54]
mnathanitransit providers so pretty close to a full table?
ofcourse directly connected and via any2ix peers get preference
[18:55]
up_the_ironsNTT is awesome IMHO
yeah
