-: up_the_irons drops a pin
jpalmer picks up the pin and sticks it through a random cat6 cable.
up_the_irons: poor cat6 cable, what did it ever do?

brycec: so *that's* why my new cat6 cables has two non-working pairs. Dammit.
mercutio: with these new 2.5 gigabit standards for cat5/cat6 it seems that it'd make sense to have 1/1.25 gigabit for two pairs
either with redundancy on a normal cable, or being able to split one cable to two devices
i suspect that's not the case though
brycec: lol https://twitter.com/arpnetworks/status/728365914408636416
BryceBot: TWITTER: Flash sale for ARP Metalâ„¢ dedicated servers! 50% off for first 3 months. Code: CINCODEMAYO. Expires midnight PST. https://arpnetworks.com/dedicated (Thu May 05 23:29:01 +0000 2016)
up_the_irons: why is it funny? ;)
brycec: up_the_irons: Tuirns I was laughing at the deleted tweet, "Cisco de Mayo"
*Turns
up_the_irons: LOL
did I really write that? I didn't even notice!
I deleted the tweet b/c there was no link ;)
brycec: ah haha
well I still have the SMS from Twitter with it ;)
http://imgur.com/bZQtn4q
mercutio: That is funny.
Cisco on the mind? ;-)
brycec: Could've been autocorrect too
He could just talk about Cisco a lot more than cinco
up_the_irons: lol
I shoulda kept Cisco de Mayo
your phone theme is very pink brycec
mercutio: i thought it was a mock screenshot. phone signal seems unnaturally high

mnathani: brycec: suggestion: can BryceBot monitor an SMS or email account where you can set @arpnetworks twitter notifications to go to, and get relayed here automatically, or would that also be againt Twitter terms of service?
***: erratic has quit IRC (Ping timeout: 276 seconds)
brycec: up_the_irons: no "theme" it's just stock Android Messenger, and Twitter's colour is pink apparently.
mnathani: up_the_irons: how is the sale working out for you? I noticed there are more options for larger dedicated offerings
brycec: mercutio: I make no apologies for having decent cell coverage
mercutio: brycec: heh it's a good thing :)
brycec: mnathani: In theory that would still be breaking the rules. Truth be told though, BryceBot probably will someday monitor and re-post Twitter accounts (damn the rules), I just haven't had time and motivation to write it.
mercutio: so you have dual core cpu, quad core cpus, hex core cpus, and then are 8 core cpus called oct core?
apparently it may be hexa and octa
but they don't have nearly as good a ring as dual/quad
i suppose people will just start calling them 16 core, and say that hyperthreading is the same as having an extra core
cos as soon as you're into double digits it doesn't seem so weird to shift to a number
brycec: Few people would understand "dohexa-core"
*hexadeca-core
mercutio: hexadeca core sounds cool actually
brycec: Didn't say it didn't sound cool ;) Just that people wouldn't understand.
mercutio: i don't know how much it matters if people understand what it means
more important to roll off the tongue
brycec: Hell, enough people already don't understand that dihydrogen monoxide is a chemical AND isn't toxic...
(well I mean there technically is a toxicity level to it... but that's not my point. my point is people don't understand water isn't bad.)
mercutio: yeh
dhmo can be pretty nasty :)
BryceBot: That's what she said!!
mercutio: it can burn you, it accelerates corrosion.
it can suffocate you
people used to say that people died from water overdose with mdma
apparently that was nearly always in combination with alcohol
brycec: It's found in both weed-killer and juice. YOU SHOULDN"T FIND THE SAME CHEMICALS IN THESE TWO THINGS!!!!!11!!!!!1!11!!1 /s
mercutio: Heh
Unhealthy water is actually a pretty big issue worldwide these days
It isn't like tap water is pure water
brycec: And chemically pure water is actually toxic in normal quantities
mercutio: heh
yeah i think a lot is left to actually understand about what is and isn't healthy
that said most people seem to agree that sugar is unhealthy, and it's everywhere.
brycec: (Referring to "ultra-pure water" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hMh1lyeNsPc http://blogs.scientificamerican.com/guest-blog/the-purest-of-them-all/)
BryceBot: YouTube video: "Ultra-Pure Water" by National Geographic
brycec: Once again people are wrong. Sugar is healthy. Excessive amounts of sugar on the other hand...
mercutio: yeah but it's not common to not get enough sugar
up_the_irons: replacing 6 HDs with SSDs in this box...
this involves too much screwing
nothing BryceBot ? nothing?
i'm disappointed
that was set up for you
brycec: Like "she" would ever say something like "too much screwing" ;P
up_the_irons: maybe she's tired
brycec: Fun fact: memtest86 can lock/freeze up with the heartbeat still flashing. *facedesk*
mercutio: brycec: oh wow
brycec: is that in smp mode?
a standard tiny hotswap type drive thing would be cool
so that ssd's etc can come in it
and no screwing or anything
i kind of expected home computers to have hotplug pci by now
where things would just slot in place
now phones don't even have removable batteries :)
