anyone wanna upvote? :) https://www.reddit.com/r/datacenter/comments/4gkydf/arp_networks_to_launch_new_data_center_in/ for those who like short URLs: https://redd.it/4gkydf no pics of new datacenter ! I dropped the ball there That's what she said!! lol I have 1 shitty pic on Flickr well, it's an OK pic if you are a Cisco person, private VLAN has a different meaning than the one intended by the article interesting we simply mean the VLAN of the account if you are a cisco person then eveything is named differently so you're used to it :) for those that dont know, it this trickery where you put a bunch of devices in say a shared /24, but they act like separate vlans as they cant communicate with each other directly oh wow is that a new thing? been there for a while sounds kinda shady, but also useful not supported on legacy hardware like the catalyst 3750 and 3560 support it yeah does it help keep down broadcasts? (like on a "regular" VLAN) useful for things like IPv4 depletion / space conservation and placing multiple tenants on the same switch it does that's cool you would put the gateway on a promiscuous port, which can talk to all the others so if a device has only 1 NIC, then it would have to also be on that promisc port? thereby kinda defeating the purpose... everyone automatically can talk to the promiscous port just not to each other ah ok they have to be able to talk to their default gateway which would be on that port yeah so it would be like the port on the switch right not sure how it would work with multiple VPS in a host, and tagged / trunk ports does each vlan get a bonafide 802.1q vlan tag? I think so more info: http://blog.ine.com/2008/07/14/private-vlans-revisited/ thanks for that, i'm gonna give it a read we use private vlans and protected-ports at LAN parties it's worthwhile ... the part of me that was in high school a couple of decades ago thinks it's awesome to see JC Denton on IRC talking about LAN parties. :-) (such a great game that was) yeah i loved the story loved the protagonist hated what Invisible War did to him I manged to avoid the sequel, so I live in a happy world where nothing dumb happened to JC wait... what game are we talking abou about up_the_irons: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Deus_Ex Deus Ex :: Deus Ex is a cyberpunk-themed action role-playing video game—combining first-person shooter, stealth and role-playing elements—developed by Ion Storm and published by Eidos Interactive in 2000. First published for personal computers running Microsoft Windows, Deus Ex was later ported to Mac OS systems and PlayStation 2. Set in a dystopian world during the year 2052, the central plot follows rookie United Nations Anti... sjackso: oh cool why is : ASN 19996: CoreSite-Any2Easy (Route Server) << listed twice on https://arpnetworks.com/peering Because it's that special :O Hm, wonder if it has to do with there being two route servers on Any2 LA there are two route servers although it lists about route servers up the top too
