mnathani: Anyone else affected by this earlier today? http://www.bgpmon.net/large-hijack-affects-reachability-of-high-traffic-destinations/
mercutio: the he.net issue?
only way i noticed anything was outages mailing list
meingtsla: Sounds like it wasn't just HE that picked it up
mercutio: yeah it does
adam___: up_the_irons: i have a dead VPS, apparently
mercutio: adam___: what's the uuid?
adam___: 82b6ff20-c06d-0132-1208-525400972102
mercutio: check now
adam___: mercutio: thanks@
what happened?
mercutio: a slight error on my part
adam___: whew

you guys are great
mercutio: all good :)
mnathani: he broke it, he fixed it :-)
adam___: who doesn't like fooling with things at 1600H on friday?
mercutio: well support is every day at least
adam___: sure
i've been oncall for 8 years now :/
mercutio: you like it?
adam___: theres good and bad
it's funny, nobody likes running top100-class computers on a 5x9 basis
can't understand why...
mercutio: heh

mercutio: there's been more and more expectations around these days for everything to work all of the time
facebook went down for around 5 to 10 minutes the other day
for some users
and there were multiple articles around about it
adam___: i saw that
good thing we have twitter as a backup ;)
mercutio: Heh I monitor facebook
And I checked Twitter too
But i found during one Facebook incident people rang 911
http://www.digitaltrends.com/mobile/users-call-911-during-facebook-outage/
up_the_irons: LOL

BryceBot: TWITTER: We have a new toll-free (US) phone number: +1 855 444-3145. Old number will still work for a while. (Sat Apr 23 00:30:25 +0000 2016, retweeted 1 times)
-: up_the_irons wonders if BryceBot could auto-post updates
mnathani: up_the_irons: I think brycec said something about twitter not allowing auto-posting of tweets

sjackso: I thought there were fully automatic twitter bots in the world
up_the_irons: mnathani: no, what i mean is, BryceBot would watch our @arpnetworks and post in here when there is something new. like it would monitor the rss feed or w/e.
mnathani: http://irclogger.arpnetworks.com/irclogger_log/arpnetworks?date=2014-11-17,Mon&sel=344#l340
up_the_irons brycec: really? so you can't echo stuff from someone's twitter feed?
brycec up_the_irons: it's "complicated" but boils down to it being illegal to ingest and regurgitate to broadcast twitter. (because they want twitter to stay on twitter.com, that sort of thing)
up_the_irons: well then
case closed
mnathani: would be neat though, if it were possible
up_the_irons: yeah
mnathani: the channel is active enough, that someone in here could get a notification and paste the tweet in here
up_the_irons: yea
mercutio: why not cross post from irc to twitter instead? :)
