mnathani_: ant: updated it to 15.10
its the latest ISO ARP had in their list
ant: mnathani_: i see
mercutio: mnathani_: hmm, you appear to be correct
it's on mirrors.arpnetworks.com
i was curious how openbsd's read-ahead support works
it's really difficult to follow :)
./arch/amd64/amd64/machdep.c: blkno += btodb(n); /* XXX? */
think it's got something to do with that :)
it appears that openbsd's disk read-ahead may actually be broken.
mike-burns: XXX?!
mercutio: yeah what does that mean
btodb is just doign the 2^^9 to 512 byte block thing from what i saw
but that blkno += btodb kind of thing is spread over lots of architectures
often slightly different :)
the real heavy work was in the buffer cache / vfs code though
but it seems it just won't inflate i/o properly
it probably doesn't make as much difference when you have disks with their own readahead etc, but it just seems silly to need to rely on that, and less efficient
mkb: anyone in here use u-verse?
