yeah with ddr4 you can actually get 16gb chips affordably
and so i'd think that it'd make sense to go for 4x16gb or 8x16gb (quad channel on those cpu's)
When I've got it running linux, dmidecode will tell me how many DIMMs there are
but you can always go to 192gb adding another cpu, and i don't think 16gb is actually cheaper than 8gb, just lower power use and affords more ability to upgrade.
