and so i'd think that it'd make sense to go for 4x16gb or 8x16gb (quad channel on those cpu's) plett: When I've got it running linux, dmidecode will tell me how many DIMMs there are mercutio: but you can always go to 192gb adding another cpu, and i don't think 16gb is actually cheaper than 8gb, just lower power use and affords more ability to upgrade.
