mercutio | so i upgraded one of my desktops, and i notice there was some option for Y PS/2 port adapters.
i was kind of thinking ps/2 had fallen out of fashion, but the board not having usb2 seemed to have some issue with keyboard input, so i ended up using a ps/2 adapter. it seems strange that ps/2 is still around but usb2 isn't. | [23:16] |
JC_Denton | ps/2 never really had an "upgrade" because it didn't need one
weren't too many peripherals that weren't keyboard/mouse that used it either | [23:17] |
mercutio | i'm not a fan of ps/2 mice. in years gone by i increased the polling rate for ps/2 mice, but you still can't go as high as usb.
but ps/2 keyboards being irq driven rather than polled seems a lot more sensible. the ps/2 keyboard does seem lower latency, but i really am struggling to figure out how to measure it | [23:18] |
