Any time someone sends me a text longer than 180 characters, I use MMS.
really?
Not even sure I get a choice in the matter.
they get sent as seperate messages, with a tail/head and only cost a single message for 160+
here*
they bind into one message on ther eceiver ends
maybe you have a CDMA network?
I don't know much about cell phones.
if you're US, most probably
there are messaging apps (Chomp) that can do CDMA splitting
will just break the SMS up into seperate messages and send them one after other
I just use TextSecure for my SMS/MMS.
rarely even use SMS these days, mostly do everything on HO
No idea what that is.
hangouts
Ah.
I get to use a different communication app for each person. TextSecure, Threema, IRC, Hangouts, email, Facebook.
mike: sounds hard to keep track of
It's rather unpleasant. I wish they'd all just use IRC like a proper human.
heh
i hardly know any people that i see in real life that still use irc
My core friend group exists in four IRC channels (of which I am in three).
i generally tend to steer people towards skype
i like hangouts - can text, mms, voice & video call for free
and now with the new app on my wear watch, i can interact with the HO's w/o picking in me pocket
most of the brainiacs i know are all on IRC though
grody: i found hangouts voice calling did not work well at all over distance
skype worked a LOT better
Skype is just awesome
works great even in mediocre network conditions
Skype likes to eat all my RAM
what OS?
trick question - it leaps out of his computer and literally eats the RAM from any computer it can find, regardless of what's running :P
darn CIA :)
mnathani_: Linux
brycec: that's awesome LOL
having 32 bit memory limit on windows is kind of handy
so much stuff leaks, that at least you know it's not going to use all of your ram.
actually isn't skype on linux 32 bit?
