BryceBot: That's what she said!! grody: seeing 20% packet loss entering ARP and 50-60% on my VPS on my VPS staticsafe: yeah ***: forgotten has joined #arpnetworks forgotten: had some kinda outage? ***: mordac has joined #arpnetworks mordac: i was just briefly getting 98% packet loss to my arpnetworks vm...
oh
channel log confirms -: mordac shuts up and reads mordac: ok well working now, thx! ***: mordac has left forgotten: i do really like the new website design ! ***: forgotten has quit IRC (Quit: leaving) grody: yea, that only seemed to go on for about 5 mins
thought i broke my router again at first m0unds: http://www.wired.com/2015/08/researchers-create-first-firmware-worm-attacks-macs/ this is fun BryceBot: Wired: "Researchers Create First Firmware Worm That Attacks Macs" milki: 3:o brycec: Hooray for #arpnetworks, answering the question of whether it was "just me" this morning with an Internet glitch.
Well that and Smokeping m0unds: ipv4? didn't notice anything w/v6 grody: it was 6 that shot fo me m0unds: hm brycec: I saw it on 4
Don't know about 6 m0unds: i can't toggle weechat but i didn't see that i disconnected from any network i'm connected to via ipv6, but did disconnect from ipv4 networks brycec: Hm yep I saw it on v6 as well. Seems like it may have been route-specific though.
Because not all v4 hosts were affected, and not all v6 hosts were affected, according to my Smokeping m0unds: interesting
i lost connectivity to east AZ but not west

oh well. gotta get ready to go to the VLA. grody: http://imgur.com/wYHPTmf,lmpJEk4 - first is IPv6, second IPv4 m0unds: whoops, realized i sent a msg to the wrong channel - second or third blip in the last few days
ah, okay grody: welcome to my world of dodgy laptop mousepad that seems to be hypersensitive and sends focus all over the shop m0unds: hahahaha, i was fixing my modifier keys w/osx terminal.app because i was having toggling issues grody: i was writing my letter of resignation into my note taker earlier m0unds: haha brycec: Another "yay not just me". Yeah I saw a blip yesterday morning too, but didn't bother to care about it. grody: hmm.. dinner or pet? https://goo.gl/photos/tYiMxRcEXRFd1cZs6 BryceBot: https://goo.gl/photos/tYiMxRcEXRFd1cZs6 -> https://photos.google.com/share/AF1QipPMYlitNtqRsjRDJeGY-Oi7I-XK8w6iHdGXM5xsLIwbow9DBjR3T9bzi0pLQf09fg?key=eVNkdE1CQkJkbG1lZDBwSEttV2NKdEo3QXlaSDlR m0unds: hahaha, looks like it's wearing a wig grody: it's about 25 days old
the nest got blocked from it's parents as they put netting up - so i had to rescue it
not the parents, $boss3 place of work mercutio: so skylake is coming out
and finally intel have gone from pci-e 2 to pci-3 for their normal dmi connection kellytk: Can anyone recommend a high quality high performance mini PC for use as a desktop test server? Similar to NUC but perhaps better mercutio: nuc?
oh similar to nuc but better
you could build yourself a normal mini itx box
or you could get a hp sff box or such kellytk: I'm considering the white box route. I've done it in the past and do enjoy it mercutio: i like fractal design cases
depends how much you want to spend though
cheap ex-lease hp sff are easy
and as long as you have a ssd eveerything is pretty much on par these days
like for desktop use i doubt most people would notice an i3 vs i7 if they have good screens, were hidden away, and had ssd's
to my mind the monitor should be the most expensive part of a computer
(should have good keyboard and mice too, but they're a bit cheaper) kellytk: What would you recommend for a 4k ~25" display? mercutio: i wouldn't.
28" 4k isn't much better than 27" 1440p
better to go for a decent 1440p for most people.
2560x1600 is a nicer resolution, but the panels tend to be older tech.
i like the samsung pls panels, but different people have different opinions. kellytk: I have 2560x1440 on this 27" mercutio: well yeh you're not doing too bad then i imagine
two 1440p screens are better than one 4k i reckon
that would be the next logical upgrade
