brycec: Looks like someone found a great use to some old Cisco stuff http://imgur.com/tTxx8ag
Plenty of power in the datacenter, all it would cost is some rackspace and then toeshred could have a nice refreshing beer when he's done.
m0unds: yep, that's about the best use for it
toeshred: brycec: Hah that's awesome. Wouldn't fly with the data center policy though :(
I guess that is precisely why it is camouflaged though.
brycec: lol
Yeah I wouldn't allow it my DC either
But for somebody's office where hiding a cooler of beer is less of an issue, it's awesome.
-: brycec shudders to imagine the hassle of cleaning up a spilled beer on raised flooring
m0unds: coffee is bad enough
old boss liked showing off our renovated dc area and never stopped people from bringing drinks in
brycec: :(((
m0unds: visitor dropped some giant starbucks monstrosity on the ground and it went right under the floor
so gross
brycec: Any equipment damaged too?
m0unds: nah, got lucky
brycec: indeed
m0unds: we had someone spill a drink in the monitoring area (raised floor there too for cabling) and he wrecked a code merger box
took rs232 and converted it to bilinx communication stuff for old camera movement
$900 dingus
mnathani: how does archlinux deal with multi monitor setups?
mike-burns: I assume it uses Xorg?
brycec: ^ yep, standard xrandr/xorg
mnathani: k

BryceBot: Gist: "gns3server error"
mnathani: any idea what package I might be missing to get that working?
m0unds: pip install chardet?
mnathani: I have installed it in the past from AUR using Yaourt with great sucess in Virtualbox. This time I am trying on bare metal (laptop)
awesome, looks like it worked
mike-burns: Virtual or not should not matter here. How did you install gns3server, and does installing the chardet package fix it?
You should probably submit a bug report to the package maintainer.
mercutio: hahahaha
that cisco thing is cool
mnathani_: mercutio: what cisco thing?
mercutio: router
brycec ? Looks like someone found a great use to some old Cisco stuff http://imgur.com/tTxx8ag
cutting and pasting just doesn't seem to work right even with left select if i have weechat's mouse mode on
i split a drink on my keyboard once. it didn't work right afterwards, giving phantom keys etc. but i happened to have another one just the same.
it was also pre-windows keys and "nice" - when it was getting harder and harder to get "nice" keyboards.
it didn't seem to make me stop wanting to have drinks by my computer.
i hear horror stories of people spilling drinks on laptops though.
could be a lot more painful...
mnathani: s/split/spilt
BryceBot: <mercutio> i spilt a drink on my keyboard once. it didn't work right afterwards, giving phantom keys etc. but i happened to have another one just the same.
brycec: My missus spilled a smoothie/juice/thing on her Das Keyboard the other day :(
Always amazed at where liquids, even thick ones, can end up.
mercutio: damn
at least you should be able to remove keys and clean
brycec: Did, but it's too fargone
mercutio: damn
brycec: The USB hub still seems to work...
mercutio: those keyboards seemed overpriced to me :)
brycec: but the keyboard never enumerates.
mercutio: what does it do when you try using it?
hmm
yeah it could take hours to try and fix i imagine
adn still get nowhere
brycec: Literally the keyboard doesn't even enumerate on the USB bus. Just doesn't respond to the host controller.
mercutio: wow
maybe short circuit
brycec: LEDs light so there's power, but seems like the controller is "stuck"
mercutio: yeah it's hard to know
it may be getting overloaded by too many simultaneous keys or something
das keyboards here are like twice the price of normal mech keyboards
i really should try changing what i use :/
i've got a bluue somewhere
brycec: wow, really that much? I paid about $100 for this one.
(and the missus is pretty much insisting on another of the same)
mercutio: hmm my brown was about $50 US I think
make that $70 hmm
brycec: Most MK's I've seen cost in the $75-$200 range.
mercutio: yeah
i like to be at the lower end of that
i have two ducky keyboards, and one cm storm quickfire
brycec: I love my Ducky
mercutio: i like all 3
ok now i'm on ducky blue, from ducky red.
hopefully it stops making me make so many typos.
brycec: I started with blacks and I prefer them to this day :)
mercutio: damn the cable is short. i may have to route it around the back.
i like all 3 tbh
this one has annoying blue led's though; the other one is green. it's much nicer when the led's are "soft"
what ducky are you using?
damn blue is noisy.
it's even got o-rings; and it still seems noisy.
brycec: Ducky DK9087
mercutio: oh with the fancy lights?
i have the ones withoutlights
brycec: Yeah with the fancy lights. They're so pretty and fancy! :p
They annoy the heck out of my missus. She sees the patterns out of the corner of her eye and they bug her.
mercutio: yeah i can't stand patterns out of the corner of my eye either
i don't think i'm necessarily seizure prone, but fast moving objects in peripheral vision agitate me.
it's damn annoying with flickering lights
mnathani_: arch on bare metal lenovo laptop - whats the best way to get sound working? I tried pulseaudio but no luck
brycec: mnathani_: cat /proc/asound/cards
Do you see your card there? If not, it's probably not supported.
If it is, then you messed *something* up because normally PA just grabs whatever Alsa supports and JustWOrks(tm)

mnathani: [mnathani@archr61 ~]$ cat /proc/asound/cards
0 [Intel ]: HDA-Intel - HDA Intel
HDA Intel at 0xfe020000 irq 32
y
so I probably broke something
brycec: mnathani: Does "alsamixer" (no args) show PA or the card? And if the card, does it show the controls you'd expect?
mnathani: [mnathani@archr61 ~]$ osstest
/dev/mixer: No such file or directory
brycec: (then test with "alsamixer -c 0")
oss? what is this, 1999?
mnathani: working now
but I have no idea if it was pulse, alsa, or oss
I think I spun the wheel and something ended up working
alsamixer showed pulse audio

mnathani_: what is the go to gui terminal on arch that supports tabs?
presently using gnome-terminal, but for some reason it does not have tabs
***: Guest28397 has quit IRC (Ping timeout: 256 seconds)
staticsafe: terminator
brycec: urxvt + tmux :P
But last I knew, gnome-terminal had tabs
