That's what she said!! AMD's drivers are a shitshow oh right yeh in linux amd btu nvidia for windows i reckon gtx 970 is probably a good idea for windows. by that i just meant i wasn't throwing cash aside to upgrade my gpu, haha i have a r9 290 it's not too bad does 96hz at 1440p fine. that's good with everything on high yeh the only thing i got to go a bit slow so far is tomb raider. on the extreme settings thingy. i was blown away by tomb raider tbh it's a bit old now, but i hadn't tried anything "rich" i got bored of it pretty quick though. i think it's like $10 on steam or something so i don't care that much :) yea, i liked it damn it's hard to find 4k videos on youtube there was some new edition of it released for ps4 and xbox one, so i got a copy of it pretty cheap around xmas https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1e6svwrk2NQ YouTube video: "GTX 970 Tomb Raider 4k 3840x2160 Benchmark" by xyz2theb there's a guy who does gadget reviews who only uploads in 4k iirc that's 1080p@60hz tressfx does pretty well w/hair i mostly play dota and openttd which don't even need a good card :) i've been playing the hell out of the witcher 3 well, had beeen been http://images.akamai.steamusercontent.com/ugc/541901441708131299/E97DF67862ACF7E22B831B0B209B1324908BED56/ @weather yyz Toronto-Pearson International, Ontario: Clear 57°F (14°C), Humidity: 31%, Wind: From the SW at 8 MPH -- For more details including the forecast and almanac, see http://www.wunderground.com/cgi-bin/findweather/getForecast?query=43.67722321,-79.63055420 or re-request this with: @weather -v yyz @weather akl Auckland International, New Zealand: Mostly Cloudy ☁ 55°F (13°C), Humidity: 77%, Wind: From the WSW at 26 MPH Gusting to 38 MPH -- For more details including the forecast and almanac, see http://www.wunderground.com/cgi-bin/findweather/getForecast?query=-37.00805664,174.79167175 or re-request this with: @weather -v akl damni t feels colder than that. you feeling better mercutio?: or was that a while back mm? you said you were sick that was aegs ago wasn't it may have been some time back I guess i got up too early today :/ adn went to bed too late :/ is your day job remote? yeh or do you go in i've been remote for ages. it has it's pro's and con's thing i most miss is daily lunch walks nowhere good to eat in walking distance from here :( do you work tickets? nope manage a team? nope mostly just fix stuff / do stuff respond to questions :) communicate via phone or email? phone and im mostly. jabber? or lync? yeh and skype skype is good for talking while doing stuff. yea, I really like skype prefer it to using my cellphone it varies for me. I have one of those unlimited* us canada subscriptions i like skype for tlaking while doing stuff but if i'm just talking to someone phone seems better, cos i can take it outside easily :) with a headset i feel claustrophobic talking on phones inside always have. it's kind of weird. actuually i muuch prefer talking outside to real life people too normally. especially if it's a standing kind of conversation. i suppose everyone has their own style. is working remote a perk, or necessity (not enough office space for everyone) it's because i moved cities. ahh i used to have an office adn i had an office wehn i first moved here. in one of those shared office thingys. are you guys customers of level3? nope. any other tier1? nope but like 3rd tier bandwidth :) buy even arp is buying level3 through someone else. cogent? well it's a bit dfiferent here because most of the bandwidth is international.. I didnt realize that. I thought arp bought level3 directly so you tend to buy mixes rather than providers. check out the dns on it it's via giglinx. it's pretty much the same diff is ARP too small to buy from level3 direct? providers like level3 suck to deal with at smaller commit levels. well they'd pay more. it's like using an insurance broker. you get the same service, but through someone else, and you save money. is that kind of like a reseller? it's also generally easier to deal with afaik. or wholesaler / distributer yeh i suppose places like level3 vary their prices heaps so if you had more time than money you could probably haggle a good deal with them. or were buying larger commits. bandwidth is like that in general really. is hurricane electric big where you are? people in the same city may pay twice as much as anohter customer for the same commit level. nope. they're not even here. only verizon are here of international tier1s. afaik and they don't seem common. I would have expected Sprint / ATT oh att maybe here i think. Telia Sonera maybe but in a limited capacity sprint got bought out by someone ntt is in australia. but not here. so yeah what usually happens is people buy bandwidth from multiple providers adn then resell it. becauuse like you need capacity to auustralia for asia... and the US for ... everything else. then one weird thing about here, is that there's domestic capacity too so you buy domestic capacity to the two biggest isp's from either one of them. so it's like at&t and verizon or something where you can buy transit to either of them and they peer freely between them. but otherwise youu're screwed. because they won't freely peer. That's what she said!! then most of the smaller to medium sized providers all peer freely. there's probably as many nz providers peering in nz as there are US providers on any2ix. heh i'm rambling now :) i don't actually know how much level3 costs. but afaik providers like cogent are much cheaper for gigabit burstable on 10 gigabit.
