but yea, routing larger than 60 down an fe80 is better

I think the cache is getting in the way
reNAMING a pool? afaik there's no function to do so, just destroy and recreate
no... you can export and import
import by ID, and a new name
and that would let you rename? TIL

or we're running into cache issues
the larger scenario is using send/receive to get a point-in-time snapshot from hard disk to SSD
but ultimately, the pool name should still be zroot before and after
can't use mirror fail, mirror rebuild, because the hard drives are bigger than the ssd.
