mnathani_: you sending outgoing via smtp?
[19:23]
mhoranmnathani_: I believe mike-burns has that set up, but I'm not sure.
He is in CEST so he may not see you need help for a few hours.
Oh I guess it's CET in winter.

brycecI need to login to see the image? [19:46]
mercutioheh i was wondering what that image was too [19:46]
brycecI guess I'll never know :p
My VPS sends mail, probably some of it on 25
Then again, 90+% is going to gmail, so it should be tls
[19:47]
mercutiowith the right spf records you shouldn't relaly need to bounce via fastmail?
brycec: is it enforced tls though?
[19:47]
brycecNope [19:48]
mercutiothese nice un-tls attacks happening and all.
i wonder if tehre is a standard to enforce tls for some domains.
[19:48]
brycec(it's just a simple default exim config) [19:48]
mercutioyou could probably just enforce tls for gmail, but that would just be gmail. [19:48]
brycecYeah, as a sysadmin it's highly impractical
(and this email isn't sensitive. Mostly rss2email)

mnathani_up_the_irons: my MTA, exim used to send via SMTP, but I am trying to use SMTP Authentication for outbound using mutt [22:22]
mercutionormal smtp auth isnt' too difficult i seem to call
recall

JC_Dentonso it's probably a bit of a nerdgasm, but i wonder if it's possible to get a photo of my box in the data center [23:14]
mercutioJC_Denton: heh [23:15]
brycecThere are photos of ARP boxes in the DC, one of them could be yours [23:15]
mercutiothey all look the same :/ [23:15]
brycecmercutio: they are labeled though [23:16]
mercutioahh. [23:16]
brycecup_the_irons hasn't published photos in awhile though
so if it's a newer node, probably not even there.
[23:16]
JC_Dentondedicated server ;) [23:18]
brycecThink there was a photo of one of them too... At least the build of one
(but probably not *yours* in that case)
[23:19]
BryceBotThat's what she said!! [23:19]
brycecmercutio: See, kvr labels https://www.flickr.com/photos/130053163@N03/16307207656/ :) [23:20]
Once upon an ARP https://www.flickr.com/photos/51184165@N00/367782983/ (2007). It's come a long way since. [23:26]
jlgaddismnathani_: re: mutt, i found it's easier to just use msmtp locally and let it handle the actual outbound delivery
it's nice if/when you send messages with 25 mb attachments and don't have to wait for it to actually get sent before you regain use of mutt
[23:33]
brycecI would imagine you could substitute any MTA that queues (what doesn't?) in place of exim there, such as opensmtpd (small and trim, very powerful, plus it's Open) [23:35]
jlgaddis*nod* i used msmtp because you could configure it to use different mail servers based on $from [23:37]
brycecyou could *easily* configure :p
I mean, you can do that with practically any MTA. Just a matter of how easy it is.
OpenSMTPD is: accept sender { "@company", "bob@bobco.com" } relay via ...
brycec <3 how easy OpenSMTPD is
[23:38]
jlgaddisi don't use that for anything other sending locally generated out to a relayhost [23:41]
.... (idle for 16mn)
up_the_ironsmnathani_: i used to use smtp auth in mutt. worked.
JC_Denton: what's the label of your dedi? (or is it colo'd)
flickr down
[23:57]
bryceclame. worked earlier, down now. [23:59]
