bmacs: As a colo custumer, am I allowed to bring a guest to the datacenter?
up_the_irons: bmacs: yes, but i may have to open a ticket with them for a visitor's pass
(a visitor's pass lasts 24 hours)
bmacs: Great! Thanks. I’ll let you know in a bit if I need to do that.
up_the_irons: ok
make sure they have their ID
pjs: up_the_irons hola! Any ETA on my order today by any chance? :)
up_the_irons: pjs: under which email did you place the order? (u can PM me that)
pjs: done and done
up_the_irons: pjs: ok i see those in the queue; will work on them in a few hours probably
pjs: up_the_irons ok. Is fbsd 10.1 an option at all or will I have to do that myself?
up_the_irons: pjs: not an option yet
pjs: ok
up_the_irons: but yeah u can do it yourself
pjs: up_the_irons ok thanks.. if it's there by tomorrow we should be good.

mercutio: anynoe else seeing high packet loss over ntt?
ie starting at ntt before it hits arp
ge-0-7-0-24.r04.lsanca03.us.ce.gin.ntt.net
is where it starts
and from arp to 4.2.2.2 shows loss looking like return path
but 8.8.8.8 is fine
***: vissborg has quit IRC (Excess Flood)
mercutio: hmm this route has 400 msec pings to chicago
up_the_irons: i'm seeing an ntp ddos
mercutio: is it hitting you?
or is ntt just screwed?
***: eryc has joined #arpnetworks
mercutio: maybe that ge ethernet interafce is your link to ntt
up_the_irons: was hitting a vps on kvr28
mercutio: ahh ok
***: vissborg has joined #arpnetworks
mercutio: oh you fixed it?
sweet :)
up_the_irons: well i shutdown the vps
mercutio: weird
that shouldn't fix it
up_the_irons: it usually does b/c the attacker sees "their job is done". at least, that's what happens in my experience.
oh i know why it stopped... that vps ran a bgp session with us
no session, routes withdrawn, no more attack
mercutio: cool
yeah, it can stop after a while, it just isn't usually that immediate.
it actually wasn't as much of an outage as ddos's often give too
enough to set off monitoring, but ssh was still usable, just a little laggy
