mercutio: hmm namecheap are having cheap domain names on black friday it seems
domain names really have become a commodity
staticsafe: yes
mercutio: i got a new domain name the other day
it's whoisguard protected, and i've already got spam
they offer this thing of rotating emails at least.
staticsafe: i get those occasionally
my mail provider usually catches them and throws them into the spam folder
mercutio: i'm self-hosting email
it was quite a bit off spam status :(
it was about a hotel booking reservation
staticsafe: yeah i self-host mail too (some of it anyways)
mercutio: made no sense at all.
I would like to reserve and book For a 8 Nights short holiday break for
myself and family
BryceBot: That's what she said!!
staticsafe: i have a domain that gets hits on addresses that I have never created/used, domain was probably owned by someone else before me
mercutio: i have a domain like that too.
i tried catching default mail for a while, and it was all crap
it used to get heaps
i actually prefer a little spam then having to check spam folder though, so i don't want to go too aggressive
i only get false positives from ebay sellers, which could half be classed as spam anyway
like "your item has been dispatched" from a spf fot fail address.
err spf soft fail
brycec: I saw the Namecheap deal too... Has me looking for an excuse (and a domain) to buy
mercutio: heh i bought ym domain a few days ago, i kept checking random domains
and it's relaly hard to find a good domain name..
i registered weallsee.net in the end
it seems the easiest way to get okish domain names is to string a few words together
staticsafe: i can sell you some of my domains
mercutio: givememoney.net is available :)
spammenow.net is avialble too
woot i found one :)
what there are lots of stupid new domains.
staticsafe: indeed
mercutio: there's a .pizza now
mnathani: pizza. 86400 IN NS demand.delta.aridns.net.au.
pizza. 86400 IN NS demand.alpha.aridns.net.au.
pizza. 86400 IN NS demand.beta.aridns.net.au.
pizza. 86400 IN NS demand.gamma.aridns.net.au.
tld hosted in AU
mercutio: i don't really feel good about using whoisguard for too long.
i feel it's good to have contract information for domains.
but i'd like phone and address protection
staticsafe: whois asininetech.com - will give you my name, dig SOA asininetech.com will give you a valid contact address :)
mercutio: it gives you an address though
like postal address
oh at gandi :)
i don't see contact address in soa
staticsafe: ns1.hopcount.nl. dns.hopcount.nl. 2014111407 28800 7200 864000 86400 - dns@hopcount.nl
mercutio: oh i don't get that
asininetech.com.86389INSOAns1.hopcount.nl. dns.hopcount.nl. 2014111407 28800 7200 864000 86400
it doesnt' like tabs i think :)
mnathani: in2-smtp.messagingengine.com
in1-smtp.messagingengine.comy

staticsafe: yeah
mnathani: did you get a fastmail.com alias?
staticsafe: yeah i have a lot of them
i don't use the fastmail.fm address
mnathani: they got the domain last month I believe
staticsafe: indeed
mercutio: someone in new zealand registered arpnetworks.NET

mnathani: I wish I had kept my Google Reader OPML somewhere safe.
Is there a way to retreive it at this point?
brycec: Nope
mnathani: does fever need a cron job or something to keep itself updated with all my feeds?
found it in their documentation
staticsafe: yeah
up_the_irons: jpalmer: i'm in the data center now setting up some gear
novae: How does feedafever compare to tt-rss?
staticsafe: ^
