mysql isn't know for being a lightweight, and in a constrained VPS you're going to have some fine tuning to do

i did like having the blog's code and stuff living in a mercurial repo though, just clone it locally and commit new posts or whatever
yeah, for me, i like writing in vim, so that was a big plus
