brycec: Criminy, I'm still having really, really terrible issues on Comcast with sites not coming up, unroutable, etc
Can anybody else here on Comcast confirm they're having issues too? Can you traceroute/ping to 192.99.32.109?
(It's fucking up pkg.freebsd.org for me too, wtf...)
(Or maybe it's my router. I'm going to be so fucking pissed if it's snort...)
staticsafe: that IP looks fine for me
brycec: staticsafe: On Comcast, right?
(It's fine from ARP for that matter)
staticsafe: nah im not on comcast
brycec: :P well that's no help
I know the IP is good. But I only have the one Comcast connection from which to test/confirm that it's a Comcast issue.
(versus an issue with my own equipment)
staticsafe: brycec: Comcast has a route server accessible via telnet - route-server.newyork.ny.ibone.comcast.net
brycec: thx staticsafe
I should've thought of that
I think I've narrowed it down to being a local issue at least :) A host on my network is hammering my router (and local dns resolver) with DNS queries, maxing out its state table.
staticsafe: o_o
brycec: And that appears to be syslog performing reverse lookups...
Deeper!

brycec: I hate when a reboot resolves issues. I feel there's gotta be a better way, less drastic measures, etc
pyvpx: I am the same way
brycec: What's worse is when you figured out later what you'd overlooked and you could've avoided the reboot afterall

mnathani: hi brycec
brycec: Hey mnathani
mnathani: could you recommend any print magazines that someone interested in tech news, networking, server advancements would enjoy reading
brycec: I could not, no.
The last time I read a print magazine was ~10 years ago, Linux Magazine.
mnathani: I see.
np
I was hoping to find something with ads and info from companies like AMD, Intel, Nvidia, Supermicro to name a few
brycec: Good luck, sorry I couldn't help
The last time I saw "print" advertising for servers and the like are billboards in airports for (mostly) Barracuda

hazardous: brycec: i have a picture of some giant netapp ad directly next to an anti-HIV/AIDS PSA from when it was in chicago
it was probably the only i've seen
brycec: heh
That reminds me - why do I get sooooooo much spam offering Netapp support/service? I've never had any interaction with NetApp, but I get spam from all sorts of 3rd parties offering support
"Please let me know if you have an interest in the discounted NetApp FAS6280 Storage Filers listed below."
What happened to NetApp that there's suddenly a market for this?
