so, I wonder if a CCNA routing and switching class will get into things like BGP jpalmer: if it follows the routing & switching cert cirriculum set by cisco, it'll cover OSPF (useful) and busted-ass EIGRP (awful) as well as stuff like STP and IP addressing and stuff like that but no bgp? afaik, they don't cover that in the cisco cirriculum for routing & switching - that isn't to say this course you're gonna take follows that to a T m0unds: it's a cisco cert curriculum, offered by the local county technical school. so not sure how strictly they'd adhere to the course. ah they don't touch on bgp (ebgp) til the course above the base routing and switching one so, 300-level cisco class for the ccnp cert track I'm in the first (of four) semester. It's definately geared for the newcomer. last thursday, I learned what a "network" is, and was told.. "each device ona network has an IP address. Don't worry, we'll learn what an IP address is later in the class." hehe yeah, it's still useful It's a pre-req to the later classes.. so I'm not complaining. right my vmware class, however.. i'm "learning how to install esxi" now. so, thats a bit more frustrating.. (that vmware requires a class, for certification) THAT.. I'm complaining about. That's what she said!! learning to install esxi - that sounds like a thrill a minute ;) of course, again I can't complain too much. the vmware class is being taken 100% online, through a community college, which counts towards the certs.. and is a total of $185. others are suffering through that class, at $3,000 ouch of course, they are doing it in a few days, instead of a semester :P when i messed with esxi, it took me longer to find a valid, current HCL than it did to install it yup the ICM class is superbasic. does ccie still mean anything? I would expect anybody taking a CCNA class to already know what a network is... But I understand that they need to be sure everybody has the same starting point and grasp of the topic. It's just a bit "insulting" for 98% of the class yeah brycec: exactly. I was a bit annoyed, then I realized that about 8 of the people in the class, have *NO* background. one is an electrician.. and one only has experence with his home network (linksys) and was asking in one of the early diagrams where his modem would fit into the topograhy now, with that in mind.. I look at it as "I'll take my lumps" I have the "luxury" of already knowing some of the subject material. And you are the 99%! You should hold a protest rally :P lol whan I play with BGP, I'm going to use the ARPNetworks ASN. should be safe, right? :) lol use one of the private ASNs staticsafe: no, that's not how I roll. I don't always test shit, but when i do, I do it in production. staticsafe: I'm just trying to offer some free multicasting, even if it's not appreciated :P multiple POP's are always better. duh. #YOLO YORO as a network op that's what i live by #YOHO BGP Pirates I have a router question http://pastebin.com/CqMTMaMg It is pastebin because it is long bellow_: You should know that this is a channel for customers of ARP Networks (www.arpnetworks.com) and is not generally for networking in general. i'd suggest asking here: http://community.linksys.com/ Looking through your issue, I cannot draw a concrete conclusion And be ready with a screenshot of "traceroute 4.2.2.2" m0unds: No help Sorry, to be clearer: When your Internet is not working, Click Start, "run" and type in "cmd". Then run the command "traceroute 4.2.2.2" "If i unplug the Ethernet to the router and leave it out for about an hour or more then I have internet again." are you plugging it back in? Or do you have Internet without the cord being plugged in? (Which would indicate you're connected to a different "linksys" SSID) any time someone comes into a channel and starts asking tech support questions like that i wonder if it's one of those bots ha Hard to tell in this instance given how little feedback we got yeah just the single reply "no help" made me wonder hahaha "m0unds: No help" Is he saying that you were no help? Or that the forums were no help? i think he meant the forum, assuming he's a person hahaha I prefer to imagine the latter, "You're no help, m0unds " it wouldn't be the first time someone said it You're no help, m0unds That's what she said!! twss Okay! twss! 'You're no help, m0unds' laggybot hahahaha I'm sticking with my theory, multiple "linksys" routers, his is b0rked and when it's powered off, his computer connects to someone else's. they have mirc on their desktop but connected w/the webchat client i suppose i'd use webchat before mirc i presumed their desktop was having issues but they were connected from another, mIRC-less computer anyone see http://www.k2proxy.com//hello.html in their web logs? Yes, one hit Aug 20, one hit today, both trying a Host: todd0738.gotoip4.com 122.226.223.69 todd0738.gotoip4.com:80 - [25/Aug/2014:19:33:12 -0700] "GET http://www.k2proxy.com//hello.html HTTP/1.1" 301 178 "-" "Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 7.0; Windows NT 6.1; WOW64; Trident/6.0; SLCC2; .NET CLR 2.0.50727; .NET CLR 3.5.30729; .NET CLR 3.0.30729; Media Center PC 6.0; .NET4.0C; .NET4.0E)" what is it? Looks like a bot searching for open HTTP proxies If they found one, it would have relayed the contents of that URL to them dicks we need to form a bot blackhole then share infoz Step 1: Block China.
