in the early 2000s, i used Debian a lot. then i moved to Gentoo for about 10+ years. switched a lot of stuff back to Debian for the upgrade simplicity.
to me, FreeBSD isn't quite as easy to upgrade, especially if a port has issues m0unds: pkg install $package is pretty straightforward and works for most stuff unless you need different params than were used to build the pkg
and freebsd-update is easy as far as updating the system itself JC_Denton: isn't the other headache a lot more rebooting?
