novae has joined #arpnetworks mnathani: hmm: IPv6: each /64 contains 264 addresses.
as per http://www.ipv6actnow.org/faq/ staticsafe: wat mnathani: Its wrong, I know brycec: I thought it was a typo, but they keep making the same "typo" mnathani: 264 is such an odd number too
254 or 256 would be more beleivable brycec: 64 isn't, and 2-something-close-to-56 isn't...
I guess they just got confused
What bothers me though is the author organisation behind it :(((
"Hi, we're an authority on XYZ and made a flagrant mistake in the facts about XYZ we presented." mnathani: what do I need to do on my ubuntu vps to enable console ssh access via the portal? brycec: mnathani: you mean from console.cust? You need to enable the first serial port for terminal
Google says https://help.ubuntu.com/community/SerialConsoleHowto mnathani: thanks. Trying it now
USER TTY FROM LOGIN@ IDLE JCPU PCPU WHAT
root ttyS0 13:21 6.00s 0.09s 0.00s w
works great! brycec: Congrats mnathani: brycec: for your rss2email subcriptions, do you mainly subscribe to blogs & news sites, or are there some custom rss links you generate say from Reddit, Youtube or other sites? brycec: I think it's 99-100% the former
No wait, there are some forums' rss that I scrape staticsafe: i sub to the new feed of Hacker News] mnathani: staticsafe: You mean: http://news.ycombinator.com/ ? staticsafe: yes
do note, this generates quite a lot of emails brycec: I sub to http://api.flickr.com/services/feeds/photos_public.gne?id=51184165@N00&lang=en-us&format=rss_200 among others :D mnathani: I use my fastmail mailbox with different labels/folders for each feed staticsafe: that works
i do that as well mnathani: brycec: ahh, so thats how one stalks up_the_irons brycec: I also follow his blog that hasn't been updated in ages
http://feeds2.feedburner.com/scientist-home hazardous: i love fastmail
the interface doesnt suck for webmail
which is really rare staticsafe: hazardous: indeed up_the_irons: i sure do need to post more to my blog
mnathani: yeah serial over SSH is my favorite feature ;) brycec: up_the_irons: Just to be clear, I'm not pressuring you to do it. Just remarked on the age. up_the_irons: :)
i'm not worried m0unds: this is kind of interesting: http://blogs.msdn.com/b/ie/archive/2014/07/31/the-mobile-web-should-just-work-for-everyone.aspx mnathani: Anyone know how to tunnel vnc over ssh using putty on windows?
The console server provides command line, presumably linux / unix instructions m0unds: uhh, probably just direct a tunnel to whatever port via localhost
i've never done it but i'd imagine that'd work mnathani: ssh -f user@console.cust.arpnetworks.com -L 5955:kvr##.arpnetworks.com:port -N
they provide something like that ^
then says vnc to localhost port 5955 m0unds: open session > in putty/kitty go to connection > ssh > tunnels > source port 5955 > destination 127.0.0.1
something to that effect
similarly, you can use that to provide socks tunnel support via ssh brycec: m0unds++ m0unds: (i do this to evade our filter stuff at work) brycec: Holy smokes, when did wifi adapters get so cheap? An Intel 7260 (802.11ac) is ~$30
I knew there were $10 USB things, but those were just 2.4GHz N m0unds: whoa
ebay? brycec: Amazon m0unds: wow brycec: http://www.amazon.com/7260HMW-IEEE-802-11ac-Express-Bluetooth/dp/B00E7QGHE6/ref=pd_cp_pc_0 http://www.amazon.com/Intel-Network-7260-HMWG-Wireless-AC-Bluetooth/dp/B00DMCVKMU BryceBot: Amazon: "7260HMW IEEE 802.11ac Mini PCI Express Bluetooth 4.0 - Wi-Fi/Bluetooth Combo Adapter"
Amazon: "Intel Network 7260.HMWG WiFi Wireless-AC 7260 H/T Dual Band 2x2 AC+Bluetooth HMC" m0unds: awesome
i might have to get one of those for my shitty netbook brycec: Gonna upgrade the laptop before Defcon :D staticsafe: This item does not ship to Toronto, Canada
:( brycec: Aw, either of them? m0unds: subhuman canadians ***: NiTeMaRe has joined #arpnetworks staticsafe: brycec: indeed -: brycec glares at m0unds brycec: <3 $4 overnight shipping staticsafe: :> -: staticsafe cries into his tea brycec: salty tea? yuck
I wonder what BT4.0 gets me... or if I have anything with BT4.0 m0unds: http://i.imgur.com/WdbLYkF.gif staticsafe: haha mnathani: m0unds thanks, got the tunnel working for vnc m0unds: mnathani: cool, glad it worked mnathani: I was familiar with the SOCKS configuration from earlier m0unds: staticsafe: https://www.planetside2.com/players/#!/5428232026853624897/killboard
this is the most annoying player i've ever encountered in ps2
i bet you can't guess what he spends his time doing staticsafe: o_o m0unds: he uses his mic to spam music and uses chat to take requests
i killed him after i muted him because it was making my audio duck even after muting staticsafe: m0unds: ahh
this is why i mute prox chat m0unds: i just mute people who annoy me
numpad enter key is the default to instantly mute whoever is speaking, iirc
i don't have a numpad, so mine's right arrow staticsafe: yeah i don't have a numpad either m0unds: numpads are for suckers
or people who have lots of desk space staticsafe: yah
m0unds: http://www.reddit.com/r/Planetside/comments/2c8ymn/i_ran_into_this_class_act_today_please_dont/ m0unds: yeah, i saw that, hahaha
