sjackso(statistically unlikely sed patterns!)
oh, but the bot doesn't sequence its edits, too bad.
[10:27]
brycecsjackso: In a busy channel with multiple people sed'ing, that would be chaos [10:31]

tesla_hello
couple questions, 1) can i get a free upgrade to the special located on the front page? :)
2) the vnc connection to the console seems to close about 3-4 seconds after connect, is this an issue with the vnc server or something on my end?
[12:26]
............... (idle for 1h10mn)
brycectesla_: 1) That's best asked in an email to support@arpnetworks
tesla_: 2) More than likely, yes it's your client. You can try stopping/starting your instance which will obviously restart the VNC server.
It would be helpful to indicate which host (kvrXX) you're on so others on the same host might be able to weigh in, ex: VNC working fine for me.
[13:37]
tesla_ok cool, didnt know that restarting the instance would also restart vnc [13:41]
***tesla_ has quit IRC (Quit: leaving) [13:43]
brycecSince VNC is served from the kvm instance, it is. Not that they're hear to know that. [13:51]
***tesla_ has joined #arpnetworks [13:54]
tesla_apparently it was my Real VNC mac os client
chicken works
[13:54]
brycecGood to hear.
tesla_: FYI VNC is served by the 'kvm' process, so stopping/starting the VM restarts VNC
[13:55]
tesla_thanks i appreciate the info
ill remember for next time i think there may be an issue
back in a few, upgrading
[13:56]

m0undswas gonna say, screen sharing (osx inbuilt vnc) is pretty functional on osx [14:00]

m0undsflash flood warning. yay. [17:45]
brycecBut it's not even raining [17:46]
m0undsjust got a bunch of alerts all at once, haha
email via emergencyemail.org, emergency notification via EAS, cortana
[17:49]
brycecCortana, the AI in Halo? Sheesh I'm really out of the loop
brycec stops trolling
[17:55]
m0undshaw haw
the only things she gets used for is weather alerts and letting me know if traffic to work is heavy enough to warrant leaving early
[17:56]
brycecOh is Cortana the Windows Phone equivalent to Siri? [17:57]
m0undsyep [17:57]
bryceccool beans [17:57]
m0undsthey used the voice actress for her natural speech stuff too [17:58]
................. (idle for 1h24mn)
mnathaniwhat can explain: [root@localhost ~]# ping google.com.
PING google.com (206.248.151.110) 56(84) bytes of data.
64 bytes from 206-248-151-110.dsl.ncf.ca (206.248.151.110): icmp_seq=1 ttl=59 time=9.96 msy
looks like my ISP is now hosting google server or caches
[19:22]
m0undsyep
seems that way
[19:24]
brycecI would consider whether they're intercepting :/ [19:28]
mnathanidig google.com @8.8.8.8
206.248.151.80
206.248.151.110
[19:29]
RandalSchwartzgoogle 8.8.8.8 seems somewhat broken right now [19:29]
mnathani206.248.151.121 [19:29]
RandalSchwartzI had to pull it out of my resolv.conf
I was getting failures about 30%
[19:29]
brycecI don't trust Google.com not being served from a Google-owned IP
mnathani: I get google.com. 299 IN A 74.125.224.38
(and 15 other addresses
)
[19:29]
m0undsyou're not in canada though [19:30]
RandalSchwartzthank goodness! [19:30]
brycec(sorry 10) [19:30]
m0undshttp://www.dslreports.com/forum/r25923266-Teksavvy-provides-services-to-Google-to-speed-up-YouTube- [19:30]
mnathanidig google.com @ns1.google.com [19:30]
RandalSchwartzoooh - traceroute to 8.8.8.8 isn't taking the usual routes [19:30]
mnathani173.194.43.65 and 10 other addresses [19:30]
RandalSchwartzalthough the intermediate hops look good [19:30]
brycecI realize that Google could be geographically targeting the DNS reply, or TS could be intercepting DNS traffic
Hard to say the "normal route" for an anycast IP :p
[19:31]
m0undsthey likely are, there's a ton of posts from ISP reps on dslr talking about google having caching gear in cages at their dcs
dcs/pops/whatever
[19:31]
RandalSchwartzif only netflix could do the same...
oh wait... they do provide that... just verizon is being a butthead
[19:32]
brycecRandalSchwartz: Netflix can do the same...
Right
[19:32]
m0undstheir openconnect gear runs freebsd [19:32]
RandalSchwartzreally? cool [19:32]
brycecI still feel that Google should own the IP's their caches feed from
Otherwise, I'm going to assume I've been hijacked
[19:32]
m0undshttps://www.netflix.com/openconnect/software [19:33]
brycecBut not ZFS, as I recall [19:33]
m0undsyeah, that was the thing that i thought when i saw that address (hijacked) [19:33]
brycecAt least the dslr link you linked, it reversed back to a useful name
"teksavvy...youtube.com
[19:33]
mnathanieven if its not Google space, it should have google rdns and relevant A records pointing back
206-248-151-110.dsl.ncf.ca << that one seems really sketchy
[19:34]
brycecWhat, 206-248-151-110.dsl.ncf.ca. isn't relevant enough for you? It definitely doesn't look like some random customer at all :P [19:34]
m0undsyeah, haha [19:35]
brycecRegistrar ncf.ca: Name: (10dollar.ca) 10 Dollar Domain Names Inc.
Fuck it, time to tunnel.
[19:35]
RandalSchwartz"I'll buy that for ten dollars!" [19:35]
m0undsthe hop before it when i tracerouted it had tor in the rdns
which..toronto?
maybe?
m0unds has no idea
haha
damned canadians
[19:35]
brycecProbably [19:35]
m0undsi'd buy that for ten dollars [19:36]
RandalSchwartztoronto is the tor center, right?
ten *canadian* dollars
[19:36]
brycec@exch 10 CAD USD [19:36]

m0undswhoops, one of the hospitals operated by my wife's employer is flooding [19:36]
RandalSchwartzthe pesos I can remove from an ATM in TJ
it's been as high as 4000 :)
[19:37]
brycecm0unds: Tell them to shut the doors, it'll be fine. [19:37]
m0undshahahaha
they're on black divert, so i guess the sewer is having issues too
[19:37]
brycec"help I'm hurt" "too bad, we can't flood the whole hospital just to help you"
oh geez that's bad news indeed
[19:37]
m0undsthis one is shitty anyway [19:37]
RandalSchwartzall the bars exchange at 12.5 to 1, so I pull out MXN when I get there, and get up to 13.5 [19:37]
m0undsboth before the sewer and after
haha
