where can i find the arpnetworks ntp ip i should configure my box to use please? I don't think arp has any local NTP servers just use one of the pool items pool.ntp.org is geo-dns, and will hand you addresses based on geo-ip ... http://www.pool.ntp.org/en/use.html fbsd default ntp.conf has 0.freebsd.pool.ntp.org (iburst) as the first one yeah just leave those alone :) is it safe to use outside ntp servers? if they get hacked, 3rd parties can manipulate my server times correct? that's why you have multple ntpd ignores way-crazy items yea there is 1. and 2. as well so if 0. was x hours off,ntp would check 1.? i mean, it doesn't just check the others if the first doesn't respond, but also if the data seems wonky? ntpd can handle it it checks all simultanousely and uses voting logic oh that's really cool! ty :) mus1cb0x: not to mention, the pool occasionally checks the ntp servers in it. If someone were maliciously trying to skew times.. they'd automatically be removed from the pool. weird... I wasn't sync'ed at all so I restarted ntpd, and now it's still not able to sync and ntpdate fails I wonder if there's some sort of filtering going on jpalmer: i'm glad to hear. ty i'm setting up pf now :) RandalSchwartz: ntpq -p?
