ant: mnathani: not sure if i understood what you want to do, but might rsnapshot do what you want? it does a full rsync the first time and afterwards uses hardlinks to create a "copy" of that snapshot and updates the original snapshot. so you only have to transfer and store the changes bit still have full backups

plett: mnathani: If git is in your workflow already, try git-annex. It can backup your files to a remote location using various protocols, then store the checksums of the files in git. It's intended more for archiving large static files rather than backups of constantly changing ones, but it might fit your needs.
