mercutio: toddf : fwiw, i generally create a dedicated SOL user, which I call "sol1" (newer IPMIs require at least 4 characters, hence the "1" ;)
that user has only "USER" privilege level, but has SOL enabled
-L = priv level
you have to use that -L USER
or it doesn't work
i had it in lower case

yeah I noted. it would probably take some doing to do IPv6 over openvpn to an ipmi port. I'm doing IPv6 over OpenVPN so its more a matter of routeability. if one were to do that I'd beg to permit us to specify the cidr of IPv6 on our end of the openvpn tunnel .. otherwise its not a great idea to have a global IPv6 address that one does not intend to use to connect to the general public internet from

mercutio: i've been happily running tunneled v6 at home for a year now
I had to switch my tunnel off the year previous when youtube etc rolled out v6 initially
but i've been pretty happy lately
i had a problem with facebook
i can do native v6
but i had to do pppoe bridging
because my modem doesn't do ipv6
which takes mtu down to 1492 from 1500
but my current modem has ipv6 support
the problem with facebook only lasted about a week i think
