brycecWhen I used to do field work, I would bring my Chromebook everywhere. Battery lasts forever (2 years and I still get ~6hrs), built-in free 3G, thin and lightweight. Only drawback was a lack of built-in Ethernet. (And at the time, ChromeOS VPN support was shoddy)

Sadly my 2yrs of free service is up.
It's still nice to know that, given a desperate or dire situation, I can switch it on, pay Verizon $10 and have a day's access.
Or I can just tether through my phone's unlimited LTE
