mnathani: dead, ordered a new one. xales: roger up_the_irons: my condolences up_the_irons: mbsync user here .. up_the_irons: the one complaint I have is that it doesn't do IPv6, I have a diff, but its not for the current version up_the_irons: the pro side of mbsync is much less cpu I've been reading about mbsync today. Might give it a try. The fact that offlineimap works fine means I don't have much reason to switch ... but mbsync does seem better. mnathani: the con side is .. if you have an unexpected shutdown (panic, battery loss, etc) sometimes the fs state is not consistent wrt the imap db it creates, so I just remove the whole folder also, mbsync is a one shot 'sync stuff' command, and then it exits. I've created a 'staggerimap' script that syncs inbox and stuff I want to check frequently .. every 30s .. then every hour it does everything .. toddf: you might be interested in this: https://github.com/tim-smart/node-mbsync-watcher mnathani: danke toddf: mike-burns : loving mbsync so far. SOOOOOOOOOO much faster than offlineimap. i practically stopped using offlineimap on certain folders b/c it was so slow mbsync is orders of magnitude faster, very happy Out of curiosity... up_the_irons are you pulling from your own mail server, or Gmail? brycec: own server (dovecot IMAP) Ah, cool mbsync has docs on how to do gmail properly also up_the_irons: thanks np heh I'm sure it does. I've always foiynd offlune syncing gmail to be excrutiatingly sloiw. Speeds far below the connection b/w. *found offline *slow I wonder how difficult it would be to just replace the wifi card in this Thinkpad.. Thinkpads are fairly repairable, just a matter of swapping the card. phlux: if it's just one of those little minicard ones, not too hard I have no idea what's inside of this thing I don't even know what model it is I just know it's a Lenovo Thinkpad Edge that I got for cheap Nice. I too have an Thinkpad Edge of some sort Got this one on a woot sale Couldn't pass it up Oh mine was a Thinkpad X130e, from 1SaleADay I know I have an AMD Turion II.. I wonder if that can narrow it down? It probably can, yes http://www.cnet.com/laptops/lenovo-thinkpad-edge-15/4505-3121_7-35127154.html that looks like it except I have 8GB of RAM and I don't remember if I did that myself or not.. So based on list of networking choices, it's very likely a minipcie slot. Look underneath for a rectangular cover with a screw. One will likely be RAM, another probably the wireless. No guarantees, but this is how Thinkpads usually are built. Ah..they're underneath, eh? As opposed to inside? Yes! Ok, that was dumb. It's right underneath my trackpad Which is a pain in the ass to get to. I had to remove my CD drive -_- at least I know what it is now, though mini pcie is correct It's got two little antennas connected to it as well so, should go intel? even though this is an AMD chipset? yeah intel wlan stuff is good And has nothing to do with AMD chipset/cpu that too http://www.amazon.com/Realtek-Rtl8191se-Wireless-802-11b-150mbps/dp/B008XF1NHI/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1392850236&sr=8-2&keywords=RTL8191SE Amazon: "Realtek Rtl8191se Hlaf Mini Pci-e Half Hight Wireless Wlan Card 802.11b/g/n 2.4 Ghz 150mbps" Looks like that's what's in there http://www.amazon.com/Intel-Wifi-5100-MiniPCI--512AN_HMW/dp/B009UNKSH8/ref=sr_1_8?ie=UTF8&qid=1392850276&sr=8-8&keywords=intel+minipcie http://pro.sony.com/bbsc/ssr/product-SNCVM630/ demoing one of these today - looks fantastic Amazon: "Intel Wifi 5100 Half Size MiniPCI-e 512AN_HMW 300m card" Looks like that'll work And under $2k!, It's a steal, m0unds Looks like that'd be covered by iwlwifi Oh that's cool, simultaneous analog and IP video. What about an atheros card? Alsogood. Honestly, I don't know of any "not good" cards... there's just "unsupported," "supported", and "well supported" yea our price is 898 for these well then it has to be this shitty network extender then m0unds: shit, that's a discount -then yup you can get cards that mini-pcie err that take mini pci-e so you can plug antennas in "mini-pcie" isn't a verb yeh words coming out wrong i haven't tried wireless ac yet but even my old intel wiresless isn't that bad 4965AGN or something and those are real cheap on ebay, .. and probably better than those realtek oh he was looking for straight mini pci-e anyway phlux: hp lock laptops for what cards they can take, i dunno if lennovo do anything as annoying I kickstarted the Almond+, looking forward to trying out AC. So far, only my N5 has an ac adapter. I've only ever heard of HP doing the lock-in game these days. ok well my laptop is locked, but it has intel wireless already only problem is that it doesn't do as high speeds on 2.4 ghz but in real world usage it tends to do ok at distance, and at short range, but i haven't really tried in between i dunno how reliable 2.4/5 ghz switchover is it's single stream in 2.4 though :( but ime single stream tends to be more reliable anyway yea, unlicensed wireless is getting ridiculous in terms of interference so the fewer streams, the more reliable your link will likely be yeah i don't think 40 mhz 2.4 ghz should exist apparently in the US they have less channels to play with, so it's probably even worse. but some routers have been forcing 40 mhz without backing down to 20 mhz when adjacent channels are used making the situation worse. yea. lots of isps have done a really poor job of educating customers about the featuresets of the cpes they provide. some people will buy another router and will run it in tandem with the isp-provided one NOISE! my neighborhood is just full of generic ISP networks, then a bunch of consumerjunk router ssids myqwest09123488, etc heh i think there's something like 12 within range of my house I have 30. :(( It might be more than 30... the list may just cap at 30... but it's fucking terrible oh, sorry 40 hahahah ha it was 12 qwest (I suspect my list is simply capped then) still 12 (mix of qwest and centurylink-named ssids) there's one called "setup" adhoc network haha Probably an HP thinger barely even hanging on - -97dBm here's a fun one - 40MHz 2.4GHz primary, 40MHz 2.4GHz guest network Can you have a guest network on the same radio with different characteristics? I don't think so. err, second is 5ghz err, first is i can barely see the 5GHz radio probably my redneck neighbor Not uncommon, shorter wavelengths require more power to travel the same distance as a shroter wavelength cool ours is all unlicensed gear because it's mostly shorthaul to areas where we have no conduit for cable proxim and solectek not a huge fan of wireless for video though but it is what it is, haha I wish I had a reason for such tech one of our pole mounts was the source of the wasp(s) i found - we demo'd a bunch of cameras in a construction area and the wasps were just hanging out damn i hate wasps :) 30? 40? i fret when i see 6 i had annoyances copying files to local computer at the same time as using internet half-duplex ftw Is more than 24h to get a VPS normal? can sometimes take 48h typically under 24h though Okay. Bought one last night about 1900, so I was curious. Thanks 1900 GMT - 8 ? 1900 GMT - 5 Sorry ahh, so not even close to 24h then :) It's now 2000 GMT - 5, 25h Oh - I did the wrong math actually 24h is the max now i really don't like leaving customers hanging for 2 days something happened to exm's order exm: if you submit a new order i'll process it right now up_the_irons: Thanks, I'll do that. Curiosity - do you take bitcoin? exm: not yet please never take fake currency like that. :) up_the_irons: Okay, thanks. CC it is thanks RandalSchwartz: fake is relative :P ok - then "volatile" it's like paying with venezuelan dollars or pesos or whatever they have something i've always wanted to know is what essence is. like my flavoured seltzer has an incredibly strong orange smell but it tastes like virtually plain water and i wish it had more flavour sorry, wrong window Yeah. Most people who accept it use CoinBase or BitPay and cash out immediately up_the_irons: Order submitted Ukranian hryvnia for now up_the_irons - can you take the hryvnia please? or Nambian dollars? exm: creating now, stay tuned up_the_irons: do you take that island country's currency where they roll a 3 ton carved stone with a transaction ledger on it in hieroglyphics to your door ;p; whoa hazardous: you mean new zealand? :) hahaha bitcoin 0.1 alpha "public" "transaction" "ledger" what country is that hazardous ancient aztec or mayan culture, I think exm: you're all set up_the_irons: Thanks so much! heh bitcoin is not yet? no problem! rather than no I bought the domain I'm using with bitcoin. Easier than credit card. And I trust the crypto, since I've analyzed most of it But that's an argument for another channel up_the_irons: In, thank you. exm: awesome ho hmm i been a customer 3 years now i was struggling to remember how long setup took http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rai_stones Rai stones :: Rai, or stone money (Yapese: raay), are large, circular stone disks carved out of limestone formed from aragonite and calcite crystals. Rai stones were quarried on several of the Micronesian islands, mainly Palau, but briefly on Guam as well, and transported for use as money to the island of Yap. They have been used in trade by the Yapese as a form of currency. While the monetary system of Yap appears to use these giant... huh. "Rai stones were, and still are, used" exm: this channel is quite liberal with its acceptable topics list in other words feel free to discuss bit coin crypto I am sure others will also find interest in the topic brycec LIES I *can* hazardous: They're more like stadiums now. m0unds: http://www.twitch.tv/planetside2 fun wish i wasn't n an aircard :/ on* so, it's been a while since I've played with html. Is there a way to make a basic header and footer template, and then include them from all other pages WITHOUT loading something heavy like PHP, or ruby, or similar? actually, nevermind. I'll eventually need to make database calls, so I'll need something heavy. javascript It's inelegant, but it qualified as "static pages" for me :) Essentially, boiled down to $(document).ready(function() { $("#page_content").load("templates/some.html"); } jquery, obviously yay, fantastic mr fox
