up_the_irons: Is your centos mirror in sync?   I've been trying a yum update for a few days now and it keeps failing.   as soon as I try a mirror in the "mirrorlist"  it works.
at a mininum,  it looks like the "updates" repo, is out of sync
Actuallly,  come to think of it..  I had the same issue a few weeks ago, but didn't have the time to resolve it.   so,  I'd guess it's been out of sync for a few weeks.

yeah, i ran traceroutes to the US servers listed on the freenode website and that seemed to be the best of the ones that were actually up
and stupid /links doesn't work on freenode, so you have to trust their outdated site

brycec: there was a vps that whenever the customer brought it up, would be ddos'ing like crazy; i had to shut it down manually a few times.  customer got his files off and has requested a wipe of the server.  it got hacked.

nah- insert plunger to #4, heat whatever vol of water you're gonna use, drop coffee into the chamber from what would normally be the bottom, moisten the filter and place it in the holder, add water, stir, let stand a short while, screw filter on, flip onto cup, press
If you invert the aeropress, doesn't that just make it a french press with a paper filter?
sorta, but no grit and you can use finer grinds
i think extraction is better
but no filter clogging as far as i've seen, using the paper filters or a mesh screen

the only other time i experienced it is with Spanish in school, where we also learned formal / informal.
yeah, there are quite some similaries between german and spanish (good for me :)
it is hard to know when to use formal vs. informal.  Since I live in SoCal, Spanish is all around us, yet I never hear anyone use formal.
but yeah, declension is NUTS.  no way to memorize that stuff..  i get it wrong on duolingo a lot.  just have to get used to it.  as a native english speaker, it is hard to reason out why one would need der/die/das/den/dem/des when it english it is all simply "the" ;)
