up_the_irons: New feature: Pay your invoices from the Portal
(fresh deploy)
banging on that all this week to get ready for Dec 1 billing
I even have my PS4 still in the box that I managed to snag on BF after 3 hours of waiting in line @ GameStop
(see, that's Commitment(tm), at both ends: business <-> pleasure)
For those whose credit cards work every month, this feature won't matter much. For those who end up having to switch CCs that got a decline notice, then they can take care of it all by themselves.
-: up_the_irons is about to drop
up_the_irons wanders off
phlux: well
i think there should be more of a commitment to business
good idea incoming:
if you wouldn't charge me for my vps, i'd be one happy customer, and you wouldn't even be tempted by your ps4.
so let's work that out then

mnathani: up_the_irons: cangratulations on rolling out the new feature! Enjoy the PS4, you certainly earned it.
phlux: guys wtf are you doing
the iron bowl is on
alabama vs auburn
m0unds: i'm at work and i don't care about college football
phlux: ignored
m0unds: it was on the break room when i was in there earlier
someone in this division cares
just not me
brycec: "the iron bowl is on" seems like an incomplete sentence to me... What is the iron bowl on? Is it on the table? And why should I care about a heavy, rusting bowl?
m0unds: haha
nothing said it was rusting, jeez
maybe it's a big, heavy powdercoated bowl
brycec: True, maybe it's been taken care of... but the fact that he didn't know where it was ("is on"...) suggested that it wasn't well taken care, nor of any significant value.
mnathani: What was the name of that RDP compatible Server that can be run on Linux?
ant: mnathani: xrdp?
mnathani: ant: thats the one. Thanks
Do you know if its any better thatn FreeNX
ant: mnathani: no, i don't have much experience with either
up_the_irons: mnathani: ty!
mnathani: up_the_irons : What does your development environment look like? Is it primarily text / console based probably using vim, git, tmux, or do you have a visual / graphical environment as well? Specifically for coding the self serve iso mouting and pay your own invoice manually features?
up_the_irons: mnathani: i'm a minimalist. my setup: ubuntu, xmonad, vim, git, screen, ruby/rails/sinatra, and node.js (a little)
BryceBot: BAREMETAL!!!
up_the_irons: LOL
m0unds: hahaha
up_the_irons: wonder what it was that i said...
m0unds: i've been messing with nitrous a bit
node.js
BryceBot: BAREMETAL!!!
up_the_irons: LOL
hahaha
m0unds: i'm a good guesser
hahahah
up_the_irons: haha
mnathani: why does node .js = baremetal from brycebot?
m0unds: https://www.nitrous.io/
up_the_irons: mnathani: emacs + orgmode for scheduling / time tracking
mnathani: weapon of choice: ThinkPad T61 (old, yes, but has served me well for 6 years and I keep saying I'll get a new laptop when it dies. Hasn't died yet)
mnathani: I love the keyboard on those IBM / Lenovo machines, seems so rugged - ready for work
new ones seem weak
m0unds: yeah, they've lost something w/the transition to lenovo
up_the_irons: m0unds: nitrous looks cool until I get to, "edit code comfortably using Sublime Text, Textmate or your favorite Mac editor"; so, what about vim / emacs ?
m0unds: you can run vim in the console
i wouldn't put production stuff in it yet (it's a beta) but i've been messing with it to transition my wife's blog from wordpress to octopress and some other stuff
unless you're just working from git or svn
up_the_irons: mnathani: yes, a big reason why i haven't upgraded. they got rid of the signature keyboard
i have abused this keyboard to no end.. and it is still awesome
m0unds: but i've got a console at the bottom of my browser window w/the cli, and leave the "rich editor" there in a smaller form as it's handy for using a mouse
up_the_irons: i once had to take it out and unbend it (somehow, my fist went into it... ;)
m0unds: so you can use vim? nice
m0unds: yeah, it's like a web based ssh terminal
neat concept, having a portable ide that can be used from a browser
mnathani: up_the_irons: Do you have an eta on my new VPS provision request?
up_the_irons: mnathani: today
but probably at night (PST)
mnathani: ok, thanks
Is there a way to log in to : http://support.arpnetworks.com/, the links I tried redirect me to portal.
up_the_irons: mnathani: you need to login to the Portal, then click "Help Desk"
it's a cookie auth thingy
mnathani: got it, thanks. up_the_irons : pm ?
guess not :-(
up_the_irons: mnathani: sorry i was afk. you can always pm, but i may not check it until i'm available.
