not sure what your question is *yet*
are you concerned that certain ports are blocked (no)
are you concerned that the latency is too high (no)
it's just a matter of what you install on your VPS
low latency and guaranty performance is what I am after
I understand that there was other factors that comes into play
well - I can tell you, from nearby spots, the traceroute numbers are awesome to my box
I remember getting 2ms ping times to one of my clients in LA. :)

@mkb, thanks for feedback...that's kinda what I am thinking also
I've had success with sip and iax both to my asterisk running kvm instance at arp. now I just do iax as a matter of convenience.
