mnathaniWhats the most robust and easy to manage combination of MTA and IMAP server that can handle several domains and virtual users?
On Linux of course (probably Ubuntu)
[20:01]
RandalSchwartzoooh... I was interested until you said Linux :)
I'm a BSD-ish guy
[20:02]
mnathaniwould the same software choices from BSD not translate to Linux? [20:05]
MrCMany folks like Dovecot + Postfix. [20:05]
jbergstroemgood combo indeed [20:05]
MrCMrC is hoping his order can be processed within the hour (placed 23 hours ago). [20:06]
jbergstroemmnathani: pretty easy to back that with a database that then would handle replication for you [20:07]
hazardousideally, you just deal with mail elsewhere
:<
i hate mail so much
[20:07]
.................. (idle for 1h29mn)
MrCAnyone aware of an unusual situation going on that might significantly increase ticket replies to less than critical issues?
Just thought it odd my order hasn't been processed yet, but fortunately there is not a huge rush.
[21:37]
toddfMrC: did you get a reply to the ticket? there is an url in the reply that lets you see updates on the web; I've had issues where my mail system caused issues receiving replies in the past [21:49]
MrCI checked the spam/junk. Nothing. Last e-mail I got was "ARP Networks Order Received." No URL in that e-mail. Just something about sending an e-mail to support@arpnetworks.com if I had questions or wanted to change the order.
Technically I'm not a customer yet, but I saw/read good things, had a good feeling, and I figured the worst is I might be out $25 or so.
[21:53]
***mjp has quit IRC (Remote host closed the connection) [21:59]
MrCMight send an e-mail tomorrow; just don't want folks to think I'm "that guy." [22:00]
CaZeKinda too late for that. [22:01]
MrCI meant questions like "Why does my web site not work?" when it's the Apache/Nginx install that's borked.
But when the e-mail says to expect a reply about a setup within 24 hours, and it hasn't happened...
[22:02]
........ (idle for 37mn)
toddfgiven there is one person takin care of arpnetworks and he can be a human and get ill or whatever .. we're quite a good testimate to the fact that the orders eventually do go through .. [22:40]
MrCOkay
Didn't know it was one man, but that makes sense.
[22:41]
toddfhe does have help when racking and stuff at times I've noticed, but when he does show up he processes orders in machine like fashion and responds to scrollback then is gone again ;-) [22:42]
.......... (idle for 49mn)
up_the_ironslol
toddf: MrC : actually the little email confirmation sent for orders doesn't have a support link
MrC: i apologize for the delay, i've been getting over a sickness the past few days. i'm going to process all orders shortly.
[23:31]
MrCFair enough. I hope you get better soon, man. [23:35]
up_the_ironsadditionally, days revolving around the 1st of the month (end of billing cycle, start of new one) are always more busy for me than others
thanks :)
[23:35]
MrCMrC had a cold recently too. [23:35]
toddfup_the_irons: I hadn't `processed' his statements enough to realize it was an order not a support request
up_the_irons: yet, is there truly a need for an order request _not_ to end up as a support ticket so progress of orders can flow just like support tickets? ;-)
[23:39]
up_the_ironsah ok
well, it *will* end up as a support ticket if they reply to the email :)
the Reply-To is support@
most people don't, so no reason to start a thread
[23:40]
CaZeI really want those danish butter cookies in those blue tins. [23:41]
up_the_ironsuntil necessary
up_the_irons hands CaZe some danish butter cookies in a blue tin
[23:41]
MrCMrC didn't want to "Raise Cain" as keeping the current customers up is probably more important than new orders. [23:42]
toddfkeeping current customers up .. heh. arpnetworks pretty much gives current customers the ability to self serve. rarely do we need up_the_irons, and that's the way we like it ;-) [23:43]
MrCThough, come to think of it, I do have a question. However, I feel more comfortable if it's in PM/msg. Up_the_irons: Please hold on a moment. [23:44]
up_the_ironsup_the_irons stands by [23:45]
