what's a good twitter extension/app for Chrome that *doesn't* require "Allow me to see everything you're fucking doing" (e.g. "All tabs and browsing activity") Not like they don't track you with chrome anyways! ;) up_the_irons: pkg_add irssi bitlbee up_the_irons: is this twitter for posting, reading/notifications, or both? mikeputnam: got those already.. something in bitlbee has twitter? Yes I'm signed into twitter from my Bitlbee instance Skype too brycec: both. just want to monitor my 3 accounts: @up_the_irons, @bsdvps, @arpnetworks brycec: interesting my bitlebee is old... hrm.. *bitlbee I'd do app.net support too, if I had an ADN dev account (to get an api key) up_the_irons: in your &bitlbee root window, issue a: help account add twitter although the bitlbee does need to be current ^ as twitter occasionally breaks the api mikeputnam: brycec : ah ok in my case (older OpenBSD -release) the bitlbee in packages is too old. which means i _really_ need to upgrade that box my poor VPS here isn't getting any attention from me right now. Shoemaker's children and all that. I need to first upgrade Perl, fix everything that breaks, then upgrade everything else. and then maybe jump from 8.3 to 9.1 (Freebsd) brycec: bitlbee and skype? what? my msn via current bitlbee doesn't work, so i'm using centerim for msn for now, any skype source I've seen talks about using some api to a skype binary running on windows .. toddf: Just going by http://wiki.bitlbee.org/HowtoSkype which is Skype on linux and api goodness you still have to run the skype client which si ugh Fortunately I have a Linux box I can run Skype on, and skyped you realize skype is destined to retire api goodness yes? and that I run OpenBSD .. I like source for my IM protocols and then bitlbee connects to skyped over my vpn someone needs to reverse engineer the skype protocol in a free country where it is not illegal then share with the rest of us (I don't care if IM only works but ..) hazardous: I never claimed it was without the skype client. I just stated that I have skype in bilbee. skype isn't known for upsetting their apis. http://www.itwire.com/business-it-news/open-source/60702-app-developers-%E2%80%93-skype-api-will-stop-working-soon ? that is what I am referring to yes toddf: was referring to "skype isn't known for upsetting their apis" :) replying* to rather haha I was referencing the url you posted when I said 'destined to retire api goodness' i figured that by your reply :) i didn't realize IM protocols still had prevalence i mean, aside from the ones used on mobile devices in lieu of sms thank you m0unds for giving a source. I was unaware... Not even going through Skype's own API stuff is there any mention of deprecation. Good job guys. brycec: when I stop being able to talk MSN to clients due to microsoft locking me (and many other open source apps) out, I tend to take note and do a little digging
