This is in the FAQ, yes. And just bear in mind that you'll need to shutdown/reboot for it to become active.
i should say shut down, i don't think a reboot wil cut it. But i have been mistaken before ;)

Hmm. So if I hit it up from here (London) and do a bunch of commands over ssh with a small amount of output, no problem
but when something with a lot of output, the session dies
I remember hearing about a London transit provider that was having MTU issues
awhile back
I've had issues like this between a few sites, I think in the end it was down to some cisco box doing some kind of tcp reordering

unless you have dedicated hardware,  mining is pointless these days.   it's better to do litecoin or primecoin.

litecoin addresses a couple of the weaknesses of bitcoin.  primecoin is quite a bit different, and has some real potential.
