brycec: no
Users on the system are completely independent from users in mysql

anisfarhana: bad bnc
hazardous: try irssi
brycec: irssi is a terrible bouncer. proxy, sure, but not a bouncer.
mercutio: try tmux :)
brycec: tmux is not a bouncer, it's a terminal multiplexer :p
-: mike-burns watches
mercutio: works for that purpose for me :)

hazardous: i don't know what sasl is, all i know is plaintext is the way to go so i don't get tortured for encryption keys later
phlux: lol
you don't need encryption keys with sasl
plz2blrning irc's sasl authentication

staticsafe: i use SASL auth for e-mail as well with dovecot
brycec: I use ssl cert auth with Freenode :)
mercutio: why use ssl with freenode?
brycec: Because I can.
mercutio: the server can always sniff what you say anyway
hazardous: rteo pt ompi
a
oops
because my local network is extremely hostile
mercutio: i'd like to see widespread lz4 text compression myself
hazardous: and this router doesn't know what vlans are
brycec: SSL is to prevent in-transit sniffing. Any one in-transit would have to know which server I'm connected to, which channel, and that channel would have to be public. Not that I'm concerned about sniffing.
mercutio: hazard: so much so that encyption will make you guilty until proven innocent?
hazardous: yes

phlux: brycec: You can use SSL AND SASL on some networks (like mine)
the CertFP authentication happens via SASL, so the FP is passed before the connection is completed, but your password is never stored
