For me, my ARP VPS is the backup MX
phlux: lower preference MX as relay host
there are some guides out there..  it's pretty simple with postfix

unless your primary is down for > 5 days, which is unlikely...

most spammers use the backup mx figuring it'll be configured more openly

hah i have a backup MX it has the same configuration for postscreen and RBLs
about half my incoming traffic was diverted to the backup mx :)

I do no local spamfighting any more
though i only use this address for mailing lists, so the spam I get is through those mailing lists
