do most bsd people actually run sh as default? I was going to learn it if it's the usual, but I'm not seeing much about PS1 variables like you'd get with bash. I want to learn sysadmin bsd stuff, so I was trying to do the norm. I miss my working dir being shown though. try ksh (on OpenBSD), I use it over bash now I use zsh for my user accounts. Boring minimalist systems just get sh or ksh though. heh nods, thanks. I guess it's one of the arpnetworks ports. regardless, I'll use csh since it's what I have. tcsh isn't even in the ports tree. Pretty sure it's default. tcsh is in FreeBSD's base install sh is hardcore, use tcsh/csh its a part of the base system, as twobithacker has stated sorressean: bash and zsh are the most common these days i use bash sorressean: I'm a Linux person rather than BSD and have always used bash. I've had to maintain (t)csh scripts though, and hated them. I would recommend bash or zsh instead if you don't have a pressing need to use csh I love tcsh.. but recently switched to bash after a decade+ on tcsh. Mainly because most new tools are designed with bash. In my case, virtualenv and fabric had issues with tcsh.
